Writing by Mr.Anand ....

Dear Mr.Anand, Your views on LiS Profession are indeed appreciable. Just like other professionals like nurses, teachers or accountants librarians do have lot of apprehensions about status and images of the profession. It is very simple.... as librarians we always think of what the profession has done for us ... and we rarely think about what we have done for the profession and how we are responsible for its status and image. There are some studies / research by librarians themselves and Sociologists of Professions. It is time all of us be little aware of such studies instead of blind groping and making loose comments. I have summed up some such thoughts in couple of my papers. I have placed here link of one of my papers which would be useful to all who .... who wonder on our image and status in society. It may also be useful to all those who have started a very humiliating series of opinions on 'how librarianship is a dyeing profession' ... at American Library Associations Sub Group ... ' Lis career' on LinkedIn social Network... Here is my link to my paper titled .... Librarianship and the professional model ... a sociological critique ... http://eprints.rclis.org/5826/Best wishesRajashekhar Devarailotus5673(a)yahoo.co.in Sent from Yahoo! Re-degination of KV Librarian
by subhasish karak 13 Feb '14

13 Feb '14

In the recently held BOG meeting of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, New Delhi1.The Librarians of KV are going to be re-designated as Trend Graduate Teacher(Library Science) with out any pay change. It is to mentioned that Librarians of KV are already getting the scale of TGT of other subject.2.Keeping the workload of KV librarians the additional post of Library Assistant is also created for big schools. Here it is to mentioned that KV libraries are one of the finest school library system in India having a collection of 10000-40000. Subscribes daily 6-12 newspapers, 40-60 magazines, 4 NCERT journals and fully barcoded, internet access, and yearly issue ranges from 10000-15000. This is really manageable, and over burdened, to them. The health of them also affected for this super over burdened task. Where as in colleges for 5000 books one librarian, one MTS, for 10000 or more books 2 librarians, one clerk, one MTS is there as per UGC norms.Thank the All India Kendriya VIdyalay! a Teachers Association (AIKVTA) for its continuous effort to achieve this.-Subhasish KarakGeneral SecretaryAIKVTAWest Bengal State Committee -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.
