Connemara Public Library
by Mailing List Admin 19 Feb '14

19 Feb '14

Date: Wed, 19 Feb 2014 09:48:12 +0530 From: Subbiah Arunachalam <subbiah.arunachalam(a)gmail.com> Libraries are built, maintained and nurtured around the world. There are academic and scholarly libraries, special libraries for different professions like law and medicine, children's libraries, school libraries, Parliament libraries, and so on. But the most important among them are the public libraries. There is a large variation in the size of public libraries - from the small public libraries in small towns supported by different State Governments in India to the very large Library of Congress and the British Library. These libraries are not only places for people to read books but they perform a variety of other functions. They are centres of community action. And in certain cases they are also examples of great architecture and beautiful buildings. Here is a selection of 25 beautiful libraries. Chennai can be proud to find Connemara Public Library in the list. Visit and enjoy some stunning photographs: <*http://flavorwire.com/280318/the-25-most-beautiful-public-libraries-in-the-world/ <http://flavorwire.com/280318/the-25-most-beautiful-public-libraries-in-the-…>* >. Librarians pay scale downgraded in Delhi Govt. Schools
by Anil Singh 19 Feb '14

19 Feb '14

It is unfortunate that Delhi Govt has downgraded the pay scale of school librarians in all the govt. schools of Delhi (Click the Link give below). Earlier they were getting PB2+4600 which was equivalent to TGTs, but now it is PB2+4200 which is at par with PRTs. Such type of anomalies happens in our profession only. Recently CBSE introduced Library science course in CBSE affiliated schools where Librarians have to teach library science courses to class XI students which means they are doing the job of TGTs (Librarian) and as well as PGTs (Teacher). KVS has re-designated their Librarians as TGT (Library science) which are in the pay scale of PB2+GP4600. Now the conclusion is that Delhi Govt. school Librarians will get the pay scale of PRTs and have to perform the duties of TGTs and PGTs. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BzaDCDNkA90eOGRNelZvNnR5QlU/edit -- with regards, Anil Singh Assistant Director (LS) Office of the Director General Competition Commission of India (CCI) (Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India) 'B' Wing, HUDCO VISHALA, 14, Bhikaji Cama Place, New Delhi - 110066 -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.
