AICTE norms

Dear all I am working in an engineering library. I have certain doubt regarding AICTE norms . As per AICTE norms, at the time of establishment for three branch with an intake of 240. There should be minimum 4000 volumes in the library, which means 250 titles with four multiple copies and 1000 volumes for basic science. In case the intake is less than 240 do the norms remains same i.e. 4000 volumes or is it different. If so, please give the details. For yearly additions it mentions that they must be increased as one title per student admitted to a branch. if the intake is 60 students for computer branch in first year. Does that mean I have to increase 80 title in computer branch or 80 titles for each SE,TE & BE which makes 240 titles in all. There is nothing mentioned about number of copies to be increased for yearly addition does that mean it is understood that four copies are to be increased. Please specify. In case of increase in intake should we follow norms for yearly addition of books. If anyone have information regards the same. Please cooperate me. Thanking you in anticipation. Dear Moderator, Can you please post the following message on the LIS-SERVE Dr. E. Rama Reddy Dear Professional Colleagues, There is good news for scholars. Professionals in India can look at alternative powerful Abstracting, Indexing and Citation Database (SCOPUS) at last. Scopus also includes over 170 highly selected Indian Journals in it and brings visibility to the Indian Journals to the International Scholars. Please see the following observation. In the Charleston Advisor - the latest in a line of comparative reviews by Louise Deis and David Goodman - Scopus is finally awarded full parity with Web of Science. Dismissing previous objections based on apparent "content gaps" in Scopus, Deis and Goodman conclude: "The truly important difference is...that Scopus offers a wider selection of journals and intelligent interface, while WoS offers a much longer selection of years". The full article can be gotten from Update on Scopus and Web of Science (December 2006) Even more striking are the findings of Michael Norris and Charles Oppenheim in the Journal of Infometrics. While the balance among costs and benefits is a matter of arguments in the developed countries and this is why we still have a debate and not a clear direction to head towards , the benefits side of open access seems to gain weight when the scales are placed on developing countries, especially when open access appears to be a perfect second best for a lacking (supposed) optimum: renowned international journals dealing with areas of knowledge that interest developing countries (and people doing science in those issues) and at an acceptable cost for their standards.
