Re : cost of workshop.

Dear professionals, I support Mr Mishra on the point that organizers charge too much as workshop fee. The very purpose of Open souce softwares is to provide support to professionals who don't have financial support to have propritory softwares. The organizers thus should charge reasonable for the same. ------------------------------------ Manoj Kumar Pant Lecturer, Amrapali Institute, Shiksha Nagar, Haldwani, Nainital, Uttaranchal-263139. draft ugc pay regulation 2009
by Baban Chavan 18 Feb '09

18 Feb '09

Date:-15/02/2009 To * * Dear professionals pl. go, through the ugc draft on pay regulation on its site and feedback to kcpathak @ ugc.ac.in upto 20th feb 2009 Sub:- Draft U.G.C. Notification revision of pay scales 2009 I Would like to bring your attention to following points related to library & physical professionals. 1. *For professors* post direct recruitment -*12 year* teaching exp-at university or college or other level .But *for librarian* it is *13 * year of which 5 year as deputy librarian or 10 year as a college librarian or assistant librarian university with same qualifications for professor *this is not the justice and parity* . *There should not be the difference between teachers & librarians in case of experience or other conditions for direct recruitment or CAS as the both posts are of equql cadre drawing same scale.* 2. *For the Associate professors* post direct recruitment- *8 years*teaching exp-at university or college or other level .But *for Deputy librarian it is 10year* of which 5 year as Assistant librarian in uni. or 5year as a college librarian with same qualifications *for ass. proffesor this is not the justice and parity . There should not be the difference between teachers & librarians in case of experience or other conditions for direct recruitment or CAs as the both posts are of equql* cadre drawing same scale. 3. *The direct recruited associate professor will be placed in 37400-67000 with A.G.P. 9000. However the deputy librarian wiil be placed in 15600-39100with A.G.P. & will move into 37400-67000 with A.G.P. 9000 after 3years* this is not the justice because both post have same qualifications at the time of recruitment. 4. At U.G& P.G. level colleges like university 10 % post of post of professor will be created & there will be only one professor post in each deptt. *What about library and physical education professional as library & physical education deptt are also a academic deptts. Librarian & director of physical education in college must be provided with such avenue and they must be given higher AGP 10000 and designated as librarian & Director of physical education itself in colleges . As the 10% professors in university deptt will be placed in 12000 higher AGP & will be designated as professor(Here this avenue should be made available to university librarian & Director of physical education directors what the professors have in* *universities.) following all the term & conditions of U.G.C.* 5. *Lastly the criterion of evalution for C.A.S. & Direct recruitment for All post seems appropriate but need to look as the fear is that incumbent may be deprived from benefits.* * * *You are kindly requested to see into the matter.* * * *Thanking you * * * * * *yours faithfully* * * *B.V.Chavan* *Librarian* *Sangamner college* *Sangamner * *Dist –Ahmednagar* *Maharashtra 422605* * * *Email babanchavan(a)gmail.com*

Inexplicable discrimination and disparity by the UGC
by sabuj kumar chaudhuri 17 Feb '09

17 Feb '09

Dear Friends, Many of us raising the various service conditions and our pay scale that has been reported in lthe atest UGC PRC Report and HRDG Report and all are absolutely correct. But still I could not understand when the UGC and the HRDG report are saying about parity of librarians with the teachers but throughout its report in all the key points they have discriminated these minority class. They are looking for NET/SET qualification in addition to 55% in MLIS for the post of College Librarian/Assistant librarian in the university but from their reports it appear that possibly they are determined not to redeignate us as Assistant Professors in LIS. Though the UGC is advocating the modern outlook in higher education of the country but actually they are satisfying the popular demands of the teachers with vested interest. With the time the stereotype definition of the "teachers" and "teaching" must be changed. Librarians are teachers in their own right. They must not think themselves no more subordinate to the teachers. They have allowed Major/Minor research project, PhD project for the librarians in this report but they have not spent not a single word on our leave rules like FIP leave, study leave and other admissible leaves for teachers. It is absolutely undemocratic and step-motherly-attitude towards us.Our collleagues have already mentioned about the disparities for promotion to the post of Deputy Librarian and Librarian.Until we are being redesignated as Assistant Professors/ Associate Professors/ Professors-this problem will be continued and we the librarians will suffer forever. It is the one and only one remedy for restore our selfrespect. We must fight back to make the UGC compel to think about the matter seriously for its immediate redressal. with best wishes to all. sabuj ---------------------------------------------- Dr. Sabuj Kumar Chaudhuri Librarian Basanti Devi College [http://www.basantidevicollege.org] (An affiliated college under University of Calcutta) 147B, Rash Behari Avenue Kolkata-700 029, West Bengal India Phone:(033)24641012 email:sabooj_c@yahoo.co.in ;sabuj_c(a)yahoo.co.uk ;sabujkumarchaudhuri(a)gmail.com website:http://www.geocities.com/sabuj_c/sabuj.html ---------------------------------------------- -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.
