The Library of Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar) looking for young, dynamic, technically skilled and committed fresh Post-Graduates in Library & Information Science from recognized Indian universities to serve as Library Professional Trainees purely on a temporary basis for one year. Name of the Post: Library Professional Trainees (Purely temporary) No. of Trainees required: 2 (Two) Essential Qualifications: Masters in Library & Information Science (MLISc.) or equivalent with First Class Desirable Experience: Knowledge of Computer, IT Applications in Libraries, Library Management System Remuneration: Consolidated stipend of Rs. 20,000/- per month Age Limit: Not exceeding 26 years as on the last date of interview. Relaxation for SC, ST, PD and OBC category candidates (i.e. 31 years for SC/ST Category and 29 years for OBC Category) will be applicable as per Govt. of India rules. Nature of Traineeship: Learn while you work on different functions & services of the libraries of Main and Transit Campus. Dear Professional Friends Documentation Research and Training Centre (DRTC), Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore invites applications for its Master of Library and Information Science (MS(LIS)) and JRF in Library and Information Science program. DRTC was established in 1962 as a constituent unit of the Indian Statistical Institute. On the invitation of Prof. P. C. Mahalanobis, Dr. S. R. Ranganathan (1892-1972) (then National Research Professor in Library Science) started DRTC at Bangalore. Since its inception, DRTC has been considered as pioneer in the field of Library and Information Science . Eligibility For MS(LIS) The minimum qualification for admission to the MS(LIS) program is a Bachelors degree in any discipline from a recognized Indian or foreign university (obtained after a minimum of 12+3 years of education) with at least 60% marks in the qualifying examination. For JRF MS(LIS) awarded by ISI or Associateship in Documentation and Information Science (awarded by ISI or NISCAIR/INSDOC) or its equivalent degree (such as Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from any Indian/Foreign University). Course is currently offered at Bangalore Center. Selection Procedure Selection of candidates for the MS(LIS) programme will be based on academic records and performance of the candidate in an all-India written entrance test and interview. There is no tuition fee for the programme and all eligible students will receive a stipend.
