Invitation We feel happy to invite you in two days National Seminar on ‘’I C T Application in College Libraries” On 4th &5th march 2012 .Organized by Central Library , Govt, E.Raghvendra Rao P.G .Science College ,Bilaspur (chhattisgarh) sponsored by UGC, New Delhi, this seminar will provide a podium for discussion and a platform to interact with eminent experts of Library Science from all over India. CONCEPT NOTE: ICT is an enabler. Impact of ICT and its applications have improved the quality of our lives and will continue to do so if the potential is properly harnessed for the benefit of humanity. The Age of Information has transformed the developed nations in the tail end of the 20th century, and now it is poised to have an equally dramatic effect on developing nations. Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has helped libraries of higher education to improve information resources and services. Library is a gateway to knowledge. These repositories of knowledge must become an integral part of education, and research. Advancement in information technology has changed the face of traditional Libraries. The Library and its environment is leading towards the concept of electronic Library i.e. paperless documentation and information which could be stored, transmitted and retrieved from anywhere…anytime. Hence to improve efficiency and effectiveness in Library services library professionals need to re-orient their activities. We hope that this seminar will discuss and assess the forth coming challenges and determine the future course of Library. OBJECTIVES: (i) To identify the ICT infrastructure of the college libraries. (ii) To identify the number and technically sound LIS professionals in the college libraries. (iii) To provide suggestion for the betterment of ICT application and overall development in college libraries. ABOUT THE INSTITUTION Established in 1944. Govt. E. Raghvendra Rao P.G. Science College, Bilaspur is one of the oldest institution of this region . Formerly known as Science College, accredited B+ by NAAC has developed into a prime institute of basic sciences in the Chhattisgarh state and is discharging its duty to society by providing quality education at undergraduate, postgraduate and research (Ph.D.) level in accordance with the growing needs of learner. The extra curricular activities involving students and faculty members have added varied sparkling gems to the crowning glory of the college. The College is an autonomous college affiliated to Guru Ghasi Das University Bilaspur (C.G.). Govt. E. Raghvendra Rao P.G. UGC NET Examination: aspirents are in dillema

Dear friends, UGC has declared structure for paper 3 in ugc net examination. as per this structure they redesigned paper 3 to objective and qualifing marks to be consider for results.... But now we are in dillema as ugc has declared that achieving minimum qualifying marks does not mean we qualified the test. The final qualifying criteria for JRF and NET will be declared by the UGC before declaration of result... So, now what this criteria could be... Whether UGC will declare a cut of list.. or they will go for percentiles or what... This confusion will be clear only after declaration of result of june exam..... Pawan Agrawal *UGC-NET IN OBJECTIVE MODE FROM JUNE, 2012 ONWARDS* 1. The UGC-NET will be conducted in objective mode from June 2012 onwards. The Test will consist of three papers. All the three papers will consist of only objective type questions and will be held on the day of Examination in two separate sessions as under: SessionPaper Number of Questions Marks DurationFirst I60 out of which 50 questions are to be attempted 50x2 = 1001¼ Hours (09.30 a.m. to 10.45 a.m.) FirstII 50 questions all of which are compulsory50x2 = 100 1¼ Hours (10.45 a.m. to 12.00 Noon.)Second III75 questions all of which are compulsory 75x2 = 1502½ Hours (01.30 p.m. to 04.00 p.m.) 2. The candidates will be allowed to carry the carbon printout of OMR Response Sheets with them on conclusion of the examination. 5. Indian Statistical Institute Documentation Research and Training Centre 8th Mile, Mysore Road, Bangalore 560059 M.S. in Library and Information Science ======================================== With the emergence of knowledge-centered economies and the knowledge society, Information & Knowledge Management has emerged as a major area of concern and importance to large corporate houses, R & D Institutions and even governments. The area cuts across several disciplines including Information Technology, Library Science, and Management sciences, to mention a few. The Documentation Research & Training Centre, a unit of the Indian Statistical Institute, founded by Late Prof. S. R. Ranganathan is an internationally recognized centre for advanced training and research in this area. The DRTC now offers a novel M.S. Programme in Library & Information Science with the primary objective of preparing the next generation information managers. This new and unique programme offers an ideal blend of courses spanning library science, information technology, knowledge management and quantitative studies. The graduates of the programme will find excellent openings in industry, especially the IT industry, R & D organizations and institutions of higher education & research. For those with an aptitude for higher studies and research the M.S. Programme provides a solid foundation for Ph.D. programmes. Several universities across the country have recognized DRTC as a centre for doctoral research. ELIGIBILITY ------------ The minimum qualification for admission to the M.S. programme is a Bachelors degree in any discipline from a recognized Indian or foreign university (obtained after a minimum of 12+3 years of education.
