It is organized by the Department of Information Management of Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey. The main theme of the Symposium is “Post-truth and Information Management”. The Oxford Dictionary’s selection of the term “Post-truth” as the word of the year in 2016 puts forward the need of questioning the accuracy of the information. Post-truth is defined as “relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief” and can be effective in information dissemination processes, information seeking behaviors of individuals, production and use of information. Information management discipline has a very important function in terms of raising awareness of individuals for distinguishing the fake information and facts. For this reason, it is extremely important that the concept of “Post-truth” and its influences be discussed within the framework of the Information Management discipline and by its professionals. CONTRIBUTIONS Contributions can be theoretical as well as technical and practical. Informative case studies are also welcome. Contributions are not limited with the main theme: all types of papers, posters and presentations on information management in general are also welcome. The audience will be information professionals, data librarians, data curators, data managers, knowledge managers, researchers, information scientists, data scientists and computer engineers, among others. We accept extended abstracts (no less than 750 words) for full papers; short communications, Research in Progress reports, and posters on all aspects of Post-truth and also information management. Extended abstracts for student papers and posters are also welcome. Extended abstracts of PhD students to present the interim findings of their ongoing research will also be considered. Please use the template available on the Symposium web site soon to prepare your contributions and send them to us using the Conference Management Software (openconf) by 15 December, 2017. We also encourage session proposals. The coordinator of a special session will be responsible for the selection of papers (4-6 papers) and will chair the session. If you have dedicated library professional who are willing to give their personal time to library after office hour i.e. who works for library at home too. 2. If Library managers personally willing to give time to library and company to team at-least. 3. If staff are active member/always following open source email groups/social site groups and various discussion forums. 4. If you bother about value of money/public money. 5. If you have capability to take risk/challenge as good administrator. 6. If you have passion to do something new and extra ordinary. 7. If you are ready to spent many sleepless nights during implementation. 8. If your main technical person have primary objective to give priority to project rather than their own priority so he/she can't left project in middle. 9. This news, if true, is alarming to all (UGC’s approved journal list has 111 more predatory journals) http://www.thehindu.com/sci-tech/science/ugcs-approved-journal-list-has-111… Unfortunately in many studies and reports, India came on top in numbers of such practices. It is a matter of shame that Government measures to prevent any attempts to bring down quality of research and dissemination, are not proven to be well thought and strategical. I have also noticed, in addition to predatory journals, predatory conferences are also being organised in such a huge quantity. I request library professionals and organisations, who have got a big role to play in keeping the quality in scholarly communication, to keep the academic community informed about such practices and keep away ourselves from publicizing such journals and conferences. ---------- Dr. J. Public Access to Research Reports: reg

Dear friends, I wanted to know the reason for NOT providing public access to the Research Reports funded by different agencies including the UGC and ICSSR in our country. The Government and its associated agencies have been spending several crores of rupees (tax payers money) every year to fund various research projects across sectors. But unfortunately, the results of such research projects are not made public which is not correct. The researchers might publish the summary of their research findings in the form of Journal Article or Working Paper but such publications cannot be equated with original research reports. Sometimes we, the librarians, feel helpless when users approach us for a help to access such reports. Therefore, I strongly feel that the results of all research projects should be made public immediately after their accepting by the funding agencies. Will it happen in the near future? The INFLIBNET or some other national agency should take this up and create a portal for the same. Sharing Koha Reports for the Indian Libraries

Dear All Major function of any automated system is to get the output from the system as per routine and specific requirements, almost all libraries are facing reporting problems especially in propriety ILMS. Koha is one of the most suitable open source solution which provide much flexibility while working with modules. Report module of Koha is one of the best and most flexible module which provide opportunity to design your own specific report as per requirements. I have attempted to develop such reports as per my personal and working experience in libraries and sharing with the community for benefit of all. Kindly share your reports of Koha if develop by you or your Koha vendor because you have already paid for it and open source ethics says for the same.
