BLIS Revision at IGNOU

It is a bold step. However, it is the time when universities should discontinue BLISc course (as they did at the time of introducing BLIS/BLISc in place of diploma) and introduce 2 years MLISc course. This will certainly give opportunities to increase the depth of the content, reduce duplication and include new topics. Does any expert on recruitment/promotion committee ask questions to even a fresh professional considering the fact that the candidate has only BLISc degree? LIS departments are expected to impart the necessary library and information skills to their students so that the student can to function effectively in libraries and other information-related work environment with minimum supervision. The Abstract Search from the Social Science Research Network's (SSRN) eLibrary allows you to search for keywords in the title and/or abstract of a large number of papers, most of which are available electronically. You can also search for papers in EconPapers which claims to be the world's largest collection of on-line Economics working papers, journal articles and software. Google Scholar enables you to search specifically for scholarly literature, including peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts and technical reports from all broad areas of research. Google Scholar also includes a citation index. Dear Colleagues We are very sad to inform you that Mrs. Aruna Karanjai, Former Head of National Science Library in National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources (NISCAIR/ INSDOC), India passed away on 25th February 2008 at New Delhi. Aruna was an outstanding library professional and information science teacher in India. Her professional colleagues in NISCAIR with other information professionals, students and relatives paid tribute to Aruna, who was cremated with at the Lodhi Road crematorium on 26th February 2008 afternoon. May the departed soul rest in peace on eternity. However, the qualifications for the internal candidates of this Institute may vary and these are notified internally. (2) Applications complete in all respects along with enclosures and registration fee of Rs.75/- each (Rs.37.50 for reserved posts) for posts mentioned under sections (A) above and Rs.30/- each (Rs.15/- for reserved posts) for those under sections (B) above must reach the Registrar of the Institute within 32 days from the appearance of this notification. (6) (a) A relaxation of 5% of marks (from 55% to 50%) may be provided at the Master's degree level for the SC/ST/Physically and visually handicapped persons, in appointment as Lecturers. (b) A relaxation of 5% of marks (from 55% to 50%) may be provided to the Ph.D. degree holders who have passed their Master's Degree prior to 19th September, 1991, and also to such candidates who have cleared the JRF Examination conducted by UGC/CSIR only prior to 1989 when the minimum marks required to appear for JRF examination were 50%. (7) Candidates are called for interview on the recommendations of the Screening Committee of the Institute and as such all applicants may not be called for interview. No TA and DA shall be admissible for attending the interview. (8) The Institute reserves the right to fill, to fill on temporary basis, or not to fill any of the posts, without giving any reason whatsoever. The number of posts may vary depending on exigencies. (9) The Institute reserves the right to alter/modify any condition at any stage.
