They hold Summer Reading Programmes, for example. There are many libraries in developing countries (including Nepal) which help their clients acquire ICT skills. We should encourage public libraries in cities and towns, and in rural areas, to initiate such programmes. Arun ----------- St. Charles Public Library Announces its Summer Reading somProgram 9:59 a.m. CDT, May 23, 2014 Public libraries throughout Illinois are getting ready for thesummer reading programs for students and adults of all ages. The St. Charles Public Library will kick off the 2014 Summer Reading Program on Wednesday, May 28 through Wednesday, August 7. The Summer Reading Program is a St. Charles Public Library annual tradition with more than 2,500 kids, teens and adults joining in the excitement each year. In 2013, a total of 53,248 books were logged. Adults and young adults can register at the Readers Services or the Adult Reference Desk beginning Wednesday, May 28. Sign-in with your book log at least once between June 11 and August 6 for a chance to win great prizes. Readers finishing grades 6-12 may register in Adult or Youth Services. Those registered who read or listen to books, will receive coupons, a t-shirt and can enter weekly drawings. Infants, preschool children and elementary students can select from one of five exciting age-appropriate reading clubs in Youth Services at the Book Club Desk. These programs encourage children, youth, and families to read and maintain reading skills during the summer months. Thirty-eight local businesses are sponsoring the summer reading program with a wide-variety of food and/or entertainment reward coupons for each level. Here is some news about the CODATA Conference, now SciDataCon and co-organised with the ICSU World Data System. *SciDataCon 2014 has announced programme tracks and extended the deadline for submissions to 16 June.* The International Conference on Data Sharing and Integration for Global Sustainability (SciDataCon http://www.scidatacon2014.org/) is motivated by the conviction that the most significant research challenges - and in particular the pressing issues relating to global sustainability - cannot be properly addressed without due attention to various issues relating to data. SciDataCon aims to make explicit the connection between concrete and specific challenges to ensure environmental protection, economic prosperity and social well being along with the research questions that arise from these challenges and the necessary role of data policy, management and analysis in addressing these research questions. The effectiveness and credibility of research findings rely on the widest possible availability of quality-assessed and interoperable datasets. To achieve these aims, the SciDataCon programme will be structured around four 'tracks': (A) Dynamic Planet, (B) Global Development, (C) Transformations Towards Sustainability, and (D) Data Science and Services. This structure is intended to bridge cross-cutting data themes and the research themes of Future Earth futureearth.info an international research programme on global sustainability coordinated by ICSU, the International Council for Science, and other partners. For example, is now possible to use different wording for email and SMS hold notifications. - Users can now unselect active facets when refining search results. - Search history can be now displayed and managed in the staff interface. - Loan checkins can now be backdated to an arbitrary date. - Holds can now be *individually* suspended and resumed from the OPAC. - Creating orders from staged files now offers much more flexibility. - The public reports service can now accept report parameters. - There is experimental support for Plack for development use. - The index update script can now operate as a daemon, allowing the indexes to be updated within seconds of a catalog record getting updated.
