Dear colleague Kindly let me the know the Phd/ M Phil increments procedure for the Assistant Librarian, Asstt Librarian (Sr Scale) who awarded Phd /M Phil degree during the period 2006 to 2009. If a person registered himself/herself for Phd as per UGC regulation he/she will get the Phd in 2011-12. But who already awarded Phd/M Phill up to 2009 and who are already registered (before 2009 regulation) and already in service. They will get non-compounded increments or not. Thanking you. Dear Library Friends, The message from Dr. K. N. Prasad informing LIS fraternity about Dr. R. Shivanna getting the Rajyotsava Award for 2010 was indeed a great news to me personally and for other library professionals as well. I was his student of B.Lib.Sc. course during 1974-75. He was an excellent teacher, a good human being and a simple soul. He always encouraged and guided students both during the course and later for securing jobs. He had a long career both as faculty and Asst. librarian (later as Deputy Librarian) at the Bangalore University. In fact, I have'nt met him for many many years now, but when I saw this thrilling news, I planned to share my thoughts with my library friends. The candidate should be well conversant with various activities of an Academic Library, such as procurement and processing of books and periodicals, maintenance of Library materials, library automation, reprography, binding unit, etc. and providing assistance to general library administration. Qualifications: Master's degree in Library Science/Information Science/Documentation or an equivalent professional degree with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade of B in the UGC seven point scale plus a consistently good academic record. At least 3 years of relevant experience. Candidates should be familiar with usage of Library software and have experience in library computerisation/automation. Age limit - 35 years, Emoluments - Rs. 22,500/- p.m. (consolidated).
