How to justify the librarian post for the institution

This is pertinent question raised by Mr. Jena and it is very serious issue for deliberation in LIS community. Since last few years, the pay scales and designations of library professionals are downgraded by authorities in various organisation arbitrarily. This not only the case of SPA, Vijaywada, but also happened in many organisations like Election Commission in India, IIT Mumbai, IIT Indore etc. Here we are blaming to the authorities, but why not for senior LIS professional who went in SPA Vijaywada for taking interview as an Expert. Why they made this interview NFS? They should have pressurised the Director, SPA for not abolishing this post. In govt. institutions creating a post is very cumbersome job and once the post is created these Experts never raised the voice against abolition. Besides this there are so many important issues in LIS Profession which I have highlighted in my latest article in entitled “Is all well in LIS Profession in India?” published in IASLIC Bulletin Vol. 61(4), December 2016. Dear this is not new a few cases has also been reported 1. National medical library, delhi, downgraded from 10,000 to 87,000 2. One of our sister concern SPA Vijaywada advertised for the post of librarian (PB-4 with AGP 10000/-) and also conducted interview for the said post but finally made this NFS. Now our authority proposing to abolish the post. The student strength is around 600 now and in future it may reach around 1200. SPAs are institution of national importance under MHRD. An initiative to retain the post of librarian in SPAs and put a full stop to the narrow mind set up started recently

Dear Professionals,   Can anyone share any document which will help me to retain the post of librarian in SPAs. There are total three SPAs with a tag of institute of national importance under MHRD. SPA Delhi is the oldest one and SPA Bhopal & Vijaywada were established in 2008. SPA Vijaywada advertised for the post of librarian (PB-4 with AGP 10000/-)  for the first around 2013 and also conducted interview for the said post but finally made this NFS.   Now our authority proposing to abolish the post. The student strength is around 600 now and in future it may reach around 1200. Please extend your help to justify the requirement of librarian for the institute library and may able to retain this in SPAs.   Please do not think this differently. I am working as AL now at SPA Bhopal and far away from the post of librarian. I am fighting for the shake of library profession.This is not only an initiative to retain the post of librarian in SPAs but a step towards putting a full stop to the narrow mind set up started recently in IITs and spreading very soon to other institutions which do not have librarian/deputy librarian.Hope whole library profession should come forward to stop this irrespective of our personal benefit.
