*Corrigendum* In continuation of the advertisement no. isibc/drtc/dr-03/1428 dated 07 march 2024, for the recruitment of one (01) research associate purely on temporary basis, the last date for submission of applications now has been extended till *10th June 2024*. those who applied earlier need not apply again. all the other terms and conditions will remain the same. [Advertisement no. isibc/drtc/dr-03/1428 provided below] Applications are invited for one (1) purely temporary position in Documentation Research and Training Centre at the Bangalore Centre of the Indian Statistical Institute to work as a Research Associate in the project titled, "Facility for Transforming Library Data to Linked Library Data," funded by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). *Qualification* *Essential:* Master's in Library and Information Science/ Information Science/ Documentation and Information Science, or equivalent in related areas with a minimum of 55% marks and NET/SLET/M.Phil/Ph.D. Good oral and written communication skills in English. *Desirable:* Knowledge of semantic technologies such as RDF, OWL, and SPARQL, etc. will be a plus. *Pay* Rs. 20000.00 (twenty thousand) per month consolidated. *Tenure of Appointment* The appointment will be for one year from the date of joining or till end of the duration of the project, i.e., 19th March, 2025, whichever is earlier. *Age* Should not exceed 35 years as of March 1, 2024, with usual relaxation for SC/ ST/ OBC and differently abled candidates. Age relaxation may be given to outstanding candidates or candidates with relevant experience. Finally, it will discuss the approach of the Queer Archive for Memory, Reflection and Activism (QAMRA) at NLSIU as a significant 'living archive' of gender and sexuality. *About the speaker: * Ammel is Project Director and Lead Archivist at the Queer Archive for Memory, Reflection and Activism (QAMRA) at NLSIU. India should share costs of opening up knowledge

Friends, The D2O (Direct-to-Open) model for publishing and distributing academic and scholarly books is here to stay. Please read https://news.mit.edu/2024/mit-press-direct-open-impact-report-0529. Leading Indian academic and research libraries that cater to large numbers of users should come forward to support such programmes by subscribing to them. While our institutions and librarians are ready to pay tens of thousands of dollars annually on books and journals published by for-profit publishers, most of them are reluctant to take part in the D2O programmes such as the one pioneered by the MIT Press and the S2O (Subscribe-to-Open) programmes pioneered by Annual Reviews Inc. Also, not many institutions in India support *arXiv* financially although a large number of Indian physicists, mathematicians, computational biologists and several others use *arXiv* extensively both to learn about the latest developments in their fields and to announce their own new results. On the one hand, our political and scientific leaders never miss an opportunity to tell the world that India is the third largest publisher of research papers and that we are close to becoming a scientific super power. On the other hand, there seems to be a reluctance to participate in the sharing of costs of publishing of books, journals and preprints which would anyway become freely accessible *thanks to others paying for them*. Japan to adopt nationwide Green OA through IRs
