Dear Members, Greetings from the NCSI-NET Foundation. This is to inform you that the T.B. Rajashekar Memorial Lecture 2025, originally scheduled to be held online on Tuesday, 24 June 2025, is being rescheduled to a later date in July 2025 because of unforeseen circumstances. We regret any inconvenience caused and sincerely appreciate your understanding. The lecture will commemorate the enduring contributions of the late Dr. T.B. Rajashekar to the library and information science field, especially in advancing open access and digital library infrastructure in India. This year's lecture will be delivered by Dr. Madhan Muthu, Director (Library), OP Jindal Global University, Sonipat, Haryana, India, on the topic: Building Open Access Infrastructure Using Interoperable Technologies and Capacity Building: The Idea Behind T.B. Rajashekar’s Initiatives The talk will revisit Dr. Rajashekar’s pioneering work promoting interoperable institutional repositories and empowering LIS professionals through open-source technologies and national-level training programs. Building metrics is the key to science and technology measurement and translating the measures to work better. The metric is not confined to drawing numbers and analysing. Selecting a metric depends on synthesising multiple directions and evidence-based data, producing scientific and technological evaluation benchmarks and standards, and implementing them with real data to mark a full-fledged system. Quite recently, we have witnessed the emergence of new metrics-based models aiming to reflect the growth of science and technology. The proposed Science and Technology Metrics (STMet 2025) conference concerns how many metrics may involve assessing different aspects of science and technology, which are best expressed using various approaches. Besides the standard conference track and the Doctoral Symposium, STMetrics will host several workshops and tutorials related to the conference’s theme. The workshops provide participants with a friendly, interactive atmosphere for presenting novel ideas and discussing their application of metrics in Science and Technology Systems. The tutorials aim to enable the participants to familiarise themselves with theoretical and practical aspects and the application of metrics. Mentoring support is available to young researchers and authors from developing countries. Please note that all submitted papers undergo review and editing by senior editors. We will take care of content enhancement and language editing. There is no fee for editing and language correction services. Resource Centre at Dhirubhai Ambani University is a vital hub for academic excellence and is a State-of-the-Art Library providing seamless access to global research & knowledge through e-books, e-journals & databases. It is an integral part of the academic, research and outreach activities of the university. The Resource Centre, fully automated using KOHA, provides student centric services including Course Reserves, Short Loan, Information Literacy Sessions, among others. It provides access to a wide variety of digital collections catering to the needs of the Faculty, Staff and Students along with several initiatives to make it one of the leading libraries in the ICT area. It is a member of regional & national consortia and actively participates in resource-sharing activities. Are not librarians really needed in academic institutions?

Friends, The entire library staff (LIS professionals, as we call them now) were asked to go by a US university. The university management decided that they were superfluous. [Please see https://katinamagazine.org/content/article/future-of-work/2025/academic-lib… ]. What is the guarantee that this may not happen in Indian academic institutions? If not all, some institutions may decide to reduce the number of library staff. Is it time that our librarians, at least those in academic institutions, thought about it?
