These tools are an important and necessary component of the BIOS initiative, as they can assist the user to determine the IP boundaries of what is free and what is not free. Perhaps more appropriately this can be framed as: what are the constraints on deliverable innovations, and what are the useable building blocks for future innovations? The resource was initially developed by CAMBIA, as the CAMBIA IP Resource (formerly www.cambiaIP.org) The Intellectual Property (IP) resource currently consists of a fully text-searchable patents database which has recently been greatly expanded to contain 1,500,000 life science patents from the US, Australian and European-based databases, and will soon include others. We also present some key technology patent landscape analyses (white papers), guides to IP policies & practices and intellectual property tutorials. The CAMBIA-BIOS patent search resource now includes INPADOC patent family information provided by the national patent offices of over 70 countries, as well as status information provided by many of these countries. Hi All, I need information regarding the use of credit card for purchase of books & subscription online. My query is as follows, 1] Are you using your personal credit/debit card for online transaction of library? 2] What's the process to reimburse the amount (used for books purchase/ subscription) in you bill statement. i.e. Do you reimburse Service Charges, Fees if any. 3] Who will bear the Annual Renewal charges of the Credit / Debit card? 4] Is there any bank providing Credit card specifically used by library's online transaction? Career in Library and Information Science

Hi All, I am very happy to join this grp of librarians / information professionals since I plan to become one in the near future. Currently I work with AC Nielsen ORG-MARG (market research firm) in client servicing. I have done my MBA (Marketing) from Symbiosis, Pune. Books and information have always been my passions since school and hence I have finally decided to pay heed to my heart and take up something seriously in this field and pursue a career in this. I require help from you all in terms of selecting an appropriate course to give me a headstart in this field. I have been thinking of pursuing Masters in Information and Library Science. Of what I understand, SNDT offers a very good masters course. I am however not aware of any other good university from where I could do this course. Could I get some suggestions in this regard? I plan to pursue a career either a a school / academic librarian (who deals with different media to educate children such as CD-ROMs, books, story-telling etc and assists school teachers on new materials/media which he / she can use effectively with children) I have limited experience in working (teaching, story telling etc) with under-priviledged children from 5 years as I used to volunteer with a Mumbai-based NGO called Vivekanand Youth Forum during college. OR a Business Reference librarian / Business Information Specialist (in Corporate) since I do similar work right now (only right now I deal with ACN proprietary tools and data for marketing data) I would like to explore other proprietory datasources and secondary sources. I am also considering a short stint with British Council Library in Mumbai (if any one works there or has ever worked there, could you please tell me what is the procedure to apply and whether they would be ok recruiting someone without a Masters in Library Science) Would be very very glad for any inputs from your side for me at the begining of my career in this field. Hello, Google, on Tuesday, released its Beta version of Google Maps service, wherein one can find the locality by navigating the online map, and get directions to reach there. http://maps.google.com Give the location name and you find the map. You can double click and / or drag the Google map using mouse pointer to get a better visibility. And using + & - signs you can zoom in or out the map.
