This is really shocking and un bearable loss to our fraternity. Dr Rajshekar was instrumental in very many initiatives, be it academics, research or the industry. I still remember the starting days of NCSI (1983) with Dr Raj, Harish, tulsi, Kapaleaswaran, Seena & others . Both NCSI and Dr Rajshekar grew to great heights, complimenting each other's strengths & success. It will certainly create a void and wd take a long time to come to terms. Our respectful condolences to his family both at home and work. ( Will someone give more details of the unfortunate incident / accident ?) Hello friends It is shocking news for the whole library community to loose such a pioneer in the field whose contributions are great! We are very sad about the untimely and sad demise of Dr.Rajashekar. More over it is so fresh and green in our memories as he was invited as a guest speaker 2 yrs ago to address us. Melissa of OSI and UNESCO had recognised his worth and invited him to some conferences and workshops. I always thought he was very good in his work. I am greatly pained to hear the sad demise of Dr.T.B.Rajashekar. It was difficult to believe as only few days back he replied to my personal email commenting on OpenMED [ http://openmed.nic.in ]. Dr. Rajashekar was the key inspiration to me for OpenMED. He was one of the great professional we had in our times. His contribution to the profession and his inspiration to many young professionals, especially for initiating the Open Access Movement in India, will be remembered for ages. Dear All, I vaguely remember having a glimpse of Dr T B Rajashekar during the Caliber meet held at the University of Madras. Although I didn't have any opportunity to meet him personally or to talk to him, I could form a mental picture of the type of person he was through his rare but measured, sensitive and considerate postings to the LIS- Forum, which he moderated so successfully with tremendous impact. For some inexplicable reasons, over the years my heart was filled with admiration, affection and high respect for this humane personality who provided inspiring leadership to many a LIS professional like me. During my earlier years, I used to copy and paste some messages to LIS-Forum. This used to create problems. Dr Rajashekar sent a detailed reply on the proper procedure to be followed while posting messages. I repeated the same mistakes a couple of times. Even then, he didn't spike even a single message of mine. He used to send a personal message, marked with utmost politeness and considerateness. It is very rare to find such finest human qualities these days. When I first learnt about this shocking news on Saturday, it was a numbing experience. I felt as if we have lost one of our family members. The news is particularly more painful in the light of the fact that our National Knowledge Commission has just been constituted. Dr Rajashekar would be made significant contribution to its activities had he been alive. I express my heartfelt condolensces to the members of the bereaved family. T.V.
