Many of the libraries and library professionals of the country and abroad are taking advantage of our expertise and practices. The Central Library is fully computerized, using state of the art Integrated Library Management System and successfully running the RFID system for over a decade. Users have the freedom to self-Check-in or Check-out, round the clock using its RFID system as it generally remains open round the clock. We have our own DSpace based Institutional Repository, and all our Theses have been digitized and made accessible through the IR/NDLI/WebOPAC/Discovery Service/Library App platform. We also provide eNewsClippings, Faculty Profiling System (IRINS), Remote Access, Faculty Publications, Research Support Services & Outreach Programs, Scholarly Communication services, etc. The secured website on https has been developed In-House with Drupal, which offers a user-centric approach for the website-based Library Resources, Services, and Products. All the ICT based library services are provided through Cloud Computing, using BAADAL Cloud.IIT Delhi being one of the top institutions of the country and IoE, having a great library system; has been declared as the National Resource Centre to offer the ARPIT MOOCs in Library and Information Sciences with the title, “Emerging Trends & Technologies in Library & Information Services (ETTLIS) by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. The Central Library is also running high-value Library Projects as well.The Central Library, IIT Delhi, is looking for young, enthusiastic and dynamic fresh post-graduates in Library and Information Sciences with a consistently good academic record to serve as Library Interns purely on a temporary basis for six months to one year. Persons with good communication and interpersonal skills and enthusiasm to learn new skills and deliver services using emerging tools and technologies will be preferred. Essential Qualifications: First Division in Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent. The applicant must have passed MLIS or equivalent examination in the year 2020 or 2021. However, those expecting MLIS final marksheet as above by the day of the interview may also apply. Candidates who passed the MLIS or equivalent examination before 2020 need not apply. Remuneration: Consolidated stipend of Rs. 20,000/- per month. Duration: The internship position is purely on a temporary basis. The internship will initially be offered for six months, and based on performance; it may be extended for another six months. The maximum period of internship will be for one year only. Services are liable to termination with one month’s notice in writing given by either side. The Intern is required to work six days a week and can avail upto two Leaves in a month.No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. Also, there is no provision of Institute Accommodation for the Library Interns. However, the Central Library helps in settling down in the attached campus areas like Katwaria Sarai, Ber Sarai, Jia Sarai, etc., where sufficient independent and shared accommodation is available for males and females.Age Limit: Not exceeding 27 years as on November 15, 2021 (the last date of application).Nature of Internship: Interns will be provided with an opportunity to work in different sections of the Central Library and to learn the modern library management techniques and web-based services in Learn while you are Doing the Work in the Section manner.Selected interns will be required to do shift duty on a rotation basis on holidays and until 9 PM as well.Interested candidates who fulfil the criteria as mentioned above, may apply through ONLINE GOOGLE FORM, available through Central Library, IIT Delhi Website (https://library.iitd.ac.in) on or before November 15, 2021, 5:00 PM, and upload recent passport size photograph (jpeg/jpg format), MLIS Marksheet/MLIS Degree and Matric Certificate (mentioning the date of birth). At a meeting convened in Budapest by the Open Society Institute in December of 2001, a small but diverse group met to explore ways to accelerate progress in the international effort to make research articles freely available on the internet. They explored the most effective and affordable strategies for serving the interests of the researchers and the institutions that support research, examined ways to make the transition to open access and economically self-sustaining, and discussed how separate initiatives could best work together to achieve broader success. The result was the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), which offered the first definition of open access. The BOAI is a statement of principle, a statement of strategy, and a statement of commitment. Two decades later, while much progress has been made, significant work remains to be done. This talk will explore the key challenges facing the Open Access movement and propose areas of concentration to ensure that global research enterprise is one that is truly open by default, and equitable by design. Opening Sciences from Below: Mainstream discourses have tended to frame Open Science as a set of neutral standards, tools, and practices to be followed, often with the objective of pursuing utilitarian or market-driven outcomes. In this talk, I reflect on some of these framings and propose other ways of conceiving open science, considering both the benefits and the potential harms to communities affected by the research. Drawing from lessons learned from OCSDNet and the Open Science and Decolonization of Knowledge project, we suggest that an inclusive open science involves a highly dynamic process of negotiating and challenging power relations within highly situated socio-political contexts, and involving actors, institutions, and communities with varying claims for knowledge legitimacy. Science policy making needs to take these power imbalances into account so as not to perpetuate and exacerbate existing inequities. -- Madhan, M

IATLIS - Prof. S.P. Narang Research Promotion Award 2017 and 2019 (For Researcher) B. IATLIS - Prof. S.P. Narang Research Promotion Award 2020 (For Supervisor) C. IATLIS - Prof. Jagindar Singh Ramdev Lifetime Achievement Award 2017 and 2019. D. IATLIS – Mrs. Ratna Laxman Rao Best Woman LIS Teacher / Professional Award A. Eligibility criteria for IATLIS - Prof. S.P. Narang Research Promotion Award to be given every alternate year to an LIS Researcher Nominations only of students registered for Ph.D. (Full time) in a recognized university would be considered. The nominee should not be a full-time employee during the assessment period. Nominations should be sent on a plain paper accompanied by bio-data, list of publications (published/accepted for publication). B. Eligibility criteria for IATLIS - Prof. S.P. Narang Research Promotion Award to be given every alternate year to an LIS Teacher/Supervisor The nominee must be an in-service teacher in a UGC recognized university on a full-time basis and must have at least 10 years of teaching and research experience in Library and Information Science. The following aspects of the research work during previous two years shall be considered for the award: · Supervision of Ph.D. research work. · Research funding got from national and international bodies · Research papers published in peer-reviewed journals. · Research publications cited. C. Eligibility criteria for IATLIS – Prof. Jagindar Singh Ramdev Lifetime Achievement Award: A very senior/retired LIS teacher/professional/researcher who has made profound contribution to library education, research, training, literature, and practice. Claims must be supported with documentary proof. Award can be given to a deserving person even if not applied. Award won't be given if no one is found suitable. *D. *IATLIS – Mrs. Ratna Laxman Rao Best Woman LIS Teacher / Professional Award The nominee should have at least 10 years of teaching experience at the post-graduate level or 10 years professional experience at a senior level, and should be in service. A person can receive the award only once and one person can nominate only one LIS teacher / professional at a time. Nominations on plain paper should be accompanied by bio-data, list of publications, details of professional activities, and contribution to IATLIS activities. The recipient LIS teacher/researcher will be given at the XXXVII IATLIS CONFERENCE 2021, hosted Online by Department of Library and Information Science, University of Calcutta on 25-27 November 2021. The nominations will be considered by an Awards Committee constituted by the IATLIS Executive Committee. An award will not be given in case majority of the Committee Members feel that no one has been found suitable for that award. Executive Council Members of IATLIS are not eligible to be nominated for these awards. Self-nominations will not be considered. The nominee should be a life member of the IATLIS.
