Cost of workshop on open source software

This is further to the discussion on the Cost of workshop on open source software, I would like to share my experiences in this regard. I have organized two national workshops on open source software. The fees of the workshop was Rs. 1000/- without accommodation and Rs.1500/- with AC Accommodation. I do agree with the views of Dr.G.K. Manjunath because the total cost of each workshop was around Rs. 2 Lakhs. We collected around Rs.65,000 from participation fees, around Rs.80,000 from sponsorship and rest expenses were beared by our institute. So, the cost on each candidate was around Rs.3000/-. This year again, BIMTECH is going to organize a National workshop on Koha in the month of May. Call for nominations: UNESCO/Jikji Memory of the World Prize 16-02-2009 (Paris) UNESCO is inviting nominations for the third award of the UNESCO/Jikji Memory of the World Prize. This invitation is extended to all Member States, in consultation with their National Commissions, as well as to international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) maintaining official relations with UNESCO and whose work is in the field of preservation and conservation of documentary heritage. Each nomination must include the following: * a description of the candidate's background and achievements, in English or French; * a summary of the work or the results of the work; * publications or other supporting documents of major importance; and * a review of the way in which the work submitted has contributed to the preservation and accessibility of documentary heritage. The Prize was created to commemorate the inscription of the Buljo jikji simche yojeol - the oldest known book of moveable metal print in the world - on the Memory of the World Register, and to contribute to the preservation and accessibility of documentary heritage as a common heritage of humanity. It is funded by the Republic of Korea through arrangements made with the Municipal Council of Cheongju City and consists of an award of US $30,000 that is given every two years to individuals or institutions that have made significant contributions to the preservation and accessibility of documentary heritage. Excellent Searching and Browsing Facility for Open Access Journals

Respected Forum Members, I have designed and develop a site by name "Link Library of Open Access English Language Journals": http://lislinks.blogspot.com/ . This is perhaps the world's third largest collection of open access journals after DOAJ and Open J-Gate that provides searching facilities at article level. But the present site has added advantage of retrieving the relevant results than that of other two (statistically it still need to be proved). I just like to request the LIS Professional to have a try over the site. Just go to the site, select from the subject that are listed in the left hand side bar and perform a search on the new page.
