Dear Members, NCSI-Net (http://ncsi-net.ncsi.iisc.ernet.in) an informal association comprising of NCSI staff, trainees, and its alumni, cordially invites you to the 6th Dr. TBR Memorial Seminar (2010). This year’s seminar will be on Web 2.0 Technologies for library services. It is a one-day seminar targeted for the benefit of students of Library and Information Science and budding LIS professionals. The details of the seminar are given below: Title: Dr. TBR Memorial Seminar (2010): Web 2.0 technologies for Library Services Date: November 13, 2010 (Saturday) Venue: NCSI Seminar Hall, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore - 560012 Target audience: Students of Library & Information Science course or its equivalent & budding information professionals. Seminar coverage: The Seminar is being conducted with an intention to create awareness amongst the students and budding information professionals about the latest developments in the field of Information and Communication technologies applicable to LIS profession. This year's Seminar will give an overview on Web 2.0 technology tools like RSS feeds, Wikis, Mashup, Blogs, etc., and customize those to Library & Information services. There will also be a session dealing with career building strategies and alternate carrier opportunities for LIS professionals. Registration fee: Rs. 150/- for Students and Rs. 350/- for budding professionals. Please do note that no arrangements for accommodation are being made for outstation participants. Number of participants restricted to 40 (due to Space constraint), it will be first come first served basis. Prof. A. C. Tikekar - A Tribute

Dear Library Friends, It is indeed shocking to hear the sad demise of Prof. A. C. Tikekar last thursday in Mumbai. I was knowing him since I was a student of M.Lib.Sc. at Mumbai University way back in 1987-88. He was an excellent teacher and a great Librarian. In fact, Prof. Tikekarji had held with distinction the office of the Librarian and as the HOD of Library Science at the Mumbai University before retiring in 1996. He earned the respect and admiration of his students and all the library fraternity for his dedication, sense of service and innate simplicity. His services to the Indian Library field shall always be remembered. May his soul rest in Peace. I was very saddened to hear of the passing away of Prof. Tikkekar. He was a thorough professional and uncompromising when it came to his teaching and research. May God give strength that his family may bear their loss.
