Urs of University of Mysore to be the Mortenson Distinguished Lecturer 2010 during October 2010. The program consists of lecture programmes, Round Table discussions and meetings. Dear Friends, In the two recent articles published in 'The Scientist', it was interesting to find that scientists of west share our concerns about library budget cuts. Read the opinion of Robert Buckingham, a long-time epidemiologist at NMSU and now dean of the School of Public Health at the University of Saskatchewan "The lifeblood of a university is its library, and cutting library resources is like cutting off oxygen to the brain.......Without this lifeblood, the university will falter and fail." The workshop will be held in collaboration with ICSSR –Western Regional Centre and will offer research students in colleges and universities an opportunity to learn and discuss the techniques of research writing and publication. The workshop will (i) help participants understand how to structure research papers effectively, (ii) enhance their ability to critique, edit and review their own work, and (iii) familiarize them with the academic publication process.
