Dear Mr. Raghavendra, The banning of books and other literary works is not new in India, many books, literary works, and movies have been banned in the country including in British India. The section 95 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, sections 292, 293 and 294 of IPC have been enacted with the ulterior motive to protect and safeguard the public moral by making the sale, etc., of obscene literature and publications in general, and to young persons in particular, a cognizable offense. I had recently come across a banned book event hosted by Marriott Library, in the USA, where the event was focused on censored books that have been taken out of schools or libraries. Typically, a book is banned because a reader finds its materials to be against their views or beliefs, and requests a librarian to remove it from the library system. The European Commission and the US National Science Foundation, considering this trend has created the Research Data Alliance as a community to share data and also entered into Open (data) access movement. Academic institutions, in particular, are considering data as an important resource to map the historicity and the development process organisation and as signposts for further progress. So managing the organisational and administrative data, though local and individual in gaining importance and is considered one of the important functions. The existing classification and categorisation of data deal more or less with classical data like social sciences and science and technology data, and international organisations like such as CODATA was created to deal with the classical data. But there are no standards or parameters to organise the organisational and administrative data, which would entitle to code the data for its structured organisation, store for access and retrieval. An attempt is made to explore the available methods of classifying and categorising organisational and administrative data and suggest a mechanism automatically map such data. Furthermore, there has been a rapid increase in the amount of published information, mostly in the electronic form. Nevertheless, on the flip side, the advancement in the ICT has inculcated an expectation in the patrons that desired information has to be ministered within in a single search. To ease the situation, libraries which have been considered as custodians of information, have started implementing discovery tools, which are intended for efficient searches. A discovery tool is an online library searching tool that provides a single-window approach to dissociated sources subscribed by the library. This seminar discusses what is a discovery tool and needs for implementing it in libraries. The Big Data and Research Data Management concepts and data analytics have given a new image to data, both currents as well as for archival data. Sharing and open data initiatives have added a dimension to this trend of revival and value addition to data. The European Commission and the US National Science Foundation, considering this trend has created the Research Data Alliance as a community to share data and also entered into Open (data) access movement. Academic institutions, in particular, are considering data as an important resource to map the historicity and the development process organisation and as signposts for further progress. So managing the organisational and administrative data, though local and individual in gaining importance and is considered one of the important functions. The existing classification and categorisation of data deal more or less with classical data like social sciences and science and technology data, and international organisations like such as CODATA was created to deal with the classical data. But there are no standards or parameters to organise the organisational and administrative data, which would entitle to code the data for its structured organisation, store for access and retrieval. An attempt is made to explore the available methods of classifying and categorising organisational and administrative data and suggest a mechanism to automatically map such data. In this process, Dr. Ranganathan’s Postulate of Five Fundamental Categories would be considered as guiding principles to map the data generated from the organisational and administrative transactions. Plagiarism is considered a serious misconduct in the current scenario. With greater accessibility to electronic text, the consequences of plagiarism are developing rapidly. This seminar addresses concepts of plagiarism, types, and factors of plagiarism, strategies to avoid it, anti-plagiarism software tools, their needs, and limitations. The comparative analysis of some open-source tools will also be highlighted. Libraries play a very important role in raising awareness among users by organizing training programs. This seminar discusses the role of a librarian to avoid plagiarism. This seminar is useful for a researcher to develop research, taking into account the impact of different forms of plagiarism and academic misconduct. ALA launches national campaign against e-book embargo

In a press conference held at the Nashville Public Library during the 2019 Digital Book World conference, ALA debuted an online petition at eBooksForAll.org <http://www.ebooksforall.org/> for members of the public to urge Macmillan Publishers CEO John Sargent to reverse the proposed embargo on e-books sold to libraries. Request to scholarly journal publishers to follow standard citation styles

Dear Friends, Indian scholarly journals do not follow standard citation styles. Journals in Library and Information Sciences also follow custom citation styles. Most of the journals ask the authors to follow their custom styles. Custom styles eat the time of authors while preparing references. Journal publishers should follow any standard styles for manuscripts. Social Science journals can follow standard styles like APA. Reference management software like Mendeley and Zotero support almost all standard citation styles. Too many Referencing Styles are in Practice - no more anyway.

Professional Colleagues, I believe, the issue raised by Vimal is right. Such referencing styles rather create problems in automated indexing for their anonymous syntax. Even these references are lacking their visibility and impact (citation score). I feel this is the right time for a study on ‘referencing practices in LIS journals’ to aware and advice. We can initiate a survey to identify the problems of cumbersome referencing practices and to get the issue resolved in a best way. Too many styles are in practice. No more styles anyway.
