Her career as a library school educator lasted more than 30 years, and included teaching at Columbia University and the University of Chicago. She is lead author or co-author of widely-used texts, including Introduction to Cataloging and Classification (6th to 11th editions) and The Organization of Information (four editions). She has an extensive publication record of refereed articles, books and book chapters, and research reports, and she has given more than 90 guest presentations for national, state, and regional library associations, as well as library schools. Taylor's international activities include serving as a workshop leader, teacher, and/or consultant in Brazil, England, Thailand, and Israel. For her work in the latter two countries, she received Fulbright Senior Specialist Program Grants. She has held leadership positions on many professional association committees, including the ALA/ALCTS Catalog Form and Function Committee (Chair, 1995–1998) and the ALA/ALCTS/CCS Subject Analysis Committee (Chair, 1992–1994). Her professional contributions have been recognized with the ALA/ALCTS Margaret Mann Citation, the ALA/Highsmith Library Literature Award for The Organization of Information, and the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Graduate School of Library and Information Science Alumni Association, among other honors. Prior to earning her Ph.D. at UNC, she had worked in libraries as a school librarian and as a cataloger at the Library of Congress, Christopher Newport College (now University), and Iowa State University. Taylor longed to return to North Carolina from the time she left in 1981. After she retired from teaching, she and her husband moved to Chapel Hill in 2007. She continues to write, working with former students on research articles and on new editions of her textbooks. Building metrics is the key to science and technology measurement and translating the measures to work better. Metric is not confined to draw numbers and analyze. Quite recently, we are witnessing the emergence of new metrics-based models aiming to reflect science and technology growth. How to make available out of print books again

Some books are once popular among readers now no reprint available due to entire sold-out copies. Still out of print books have high demand. Following are the example of two books in Library and Information Science sold out, and yet, readers want to buy. MCQ in Library and Information Science by A. Y. Asundi Library Automation: Design, Principles and Practice by L. J. Haravu. Authors and publishers are not interested in print again the same books due to various reasons. High printing cost is the main reason. Often the authors have to pay the printing cost in advance. If the reprinted copies not sold out, end in a loss for the publishers. Paperback copies of sold-out books can make available with the help of Print-on-demand service. Either authors and publisher need to take the initiative to make available the book again. Softcopy of the book can format with the help of a layout professional. Find a print-on-demand service in India (e.g. pothi.com, notionpress.com) Upload the manuscript and cover to the print-on-demand service website. Assign price, including printing cost per book, and royalty to the author. Print-on-demand service does not require any upfront cost from authors or publishers and no need to print the copies of books in advance. This method also can apply to publish new books. Print-on-demand publishing uses printing technology to produce books one at a time. The books are printed when the orders come in. Therefore, if you have an order of 100 books, you can print 100 books. If a person who wants one copy of the book, they can print just one book. Dear Professionals, With profound grief and sorrow, I am sharing formally the sad demise of Dr H Anil Kumar, Librarian, Vikram Sarabhai Library, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad in the late evening of 17th July 2020 (Friday). We have lost an outstanding professional, an inspiring mentor and a great friend. Dr Anil has contributed immensely to all the libraries that he has worked in, specially Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Nirma University Libraries and Vikram Sarabhai Library at IIMA and set a benchmark for all the professionals. With his vision and commitment to excellence, he shaped the library at IIMA to a level, which can be compared with the finest libraries in the world. He was one of the very few librarians who always strived to innovate and promote entrepreneurship in the librarianship domain. As a passionate and committed professional, he added great value to the professional associations by introducing scholarly activities. He was not only loved and appreciated by the institution heads, professionals, user community but also the information industry at large. As we all know, Dr Anil was actively contributing to the profession through webinars and discussions even during the lockdown period. Apart from being an eminent professional, Dr Anil was a wonderful human being. He was a philosopher, friend and guide to many of us. As an avid reader, he loved to indulge in discussions, and debates. Dr Anil held his teachers and senior professionals in high esteem and at the same time supported, encouraged and motivated the young professionals. Dear All Met twice/thrice, chat once/twice, email hardly remember but i can understand his efforts in modernization of IIM Ahmedabad Library specially implementation of Koha ILMS by Migrating Libsys data. Some decisions require will power, Good leadership, and a good motto behind it. Workplace is a temple for employees and it is the duty of each employee to give 100% in large public interest at the same time it is also necessary to fulfill commitment towards LIS profession because of which we are getting hand to mouth. Dear Friends, July 17, 2020, was very a sad day for the LIS Fraternity in India, as we shockingly lost, one our talented LIS Pro. - Dr. H. Anil Kumar, a dear friend of mine for over two decades, now. Since my Ahmedabad days, I had been regularly interacting with Anil for more than 25 years now and I am sure that he was one of those few gifted individuals, who have been made for the LIS profession, which he loved more than anything else throughout his splendid career and contributed immensely! Anil was a very thorough professional, hardworking, kind-hearted and versatile personality and his untimely death is also a personal loss to me, as I have some nice memories interacting with Anil, which I shall continue treasure, like his other friends! RIP Anil! My deep condolences to Dr. Nishtha Anil Kumar & Family!. May The Almighty God give you all good strength, courage and guidance to carry on your own lives as well as Anil's legacy forward! Dear Sir/Madam, Saddened with untimely demise of Dr. Anil Kumar, Librarian IIM-A who has been a very learned and wonderful human being. He all the time has been very helpful. I have been fortunate to interact with him on many occasions and witnessed his many lectures. It is hard to believe that he is no more with us but he always will remain in our heart. Sad Untimely Demise of Dr. H.Anilkumar Sir

Dear Sir/Madam, Very sad to hear the sudden and untimely demise of Dr. H. Anil Kumar, Librarin IIM-A. He was very passionate about the profession and very sane voice in LIS. I was fortune to witness his lectures in few occasions in scholarly meetings. He had keen observations of the field and unlike others in the profession he was very much aware of the importance of physical space and print documents. He was trying to bridge the path of coexistence of both print and digital materials. This was very much evident through his lectures and presentations. Very recently I had attended one of the webinars where he was a panellist. He shared very interesting information and facts on library automation and Koha ILMS implementations in Indian context. Dr. Anil Kumar has also published a lot of good research papers in LIS. Interesting fact is that he was exploring the law/legal librarianship which is not much discussed or researched in India. Dear All, It’s difficult to believe Dr. Anil Kumar, IIM A Librarian is no more. His recent webinar presentation on “transformation of libraries” for Karnataka Sate Library Association is still in front of my eyes. IIM Ahmedabad Library is one of the finest examples for transformation ... Those who visited his library understand this better..in my mind, the new transformed IIM A library remains to be a synonym to my friend Anil. As Prof Asundi rightly mentioned, Anil was a gift to the schools he studied, institutions he worked and to the LIS professor in India. We all miss a dependable LIS leader. Anil was my senior at Bangalore University. A good friend and a mentor. We worked together on couple of initiatives. He was known for clarity, vision and candidness. He was an excellent host and very humble human being. It takes some time for me to believe that he is no more... Let’s Pray almighty to give strength to his family to bear the loss and also to rest his soul in peace. Homage to Anil Kumar, H.

Sadly, Anil Kumar departed for good from our world. Bright, bold and brilliant, he was like the Northern Star of LIS profession. I found him to be different and distinct. Full of ideas with out-of-the-box thinking and strong desire to see them implemented, he encouraged and supported quite a few start-ups, a classic example being RapidRadio. Listening to his talks was a provoking pleasure. I fondly remember and cherish my last meeting with him and Nishta (his wife) exactly an year ego. In spite of his health problem, he worked hard and smart in the last two years to see his library at IIMA transformed into a new age state-of-the-art digital library, retaining yet the traditional character of his physical library renowned for its architecture elegance. Anil will live and linger in our memories for long as the finest human being and a great librarian of our times. My personal condolences to the bereaved family. May his soul rest in peace. N. V.
