Dear Mr. Manoj, If you are using koha and also the books are barcoded then your work will become quite easy to complete stock verification. I will suggest you to follow the below process to find the exact records missing and complete the verification. First - Take any laptop and attach the barcode reader with it. Second - Ask your staff on a rotation basis to scan the barcodes in excel sheets i.e. *stock verification.* Third - Once the scanning of all books is completed, you will have the list of all physical books available with you. Fourth - Now, you have to check the items issued in koha. Pull the reports of all issued books and also the list of other books with status (damaged, write off etc.) and add these accession numbers to your* stock verification excel list. * Fifth - Now you will have a complete list of verified books. *Here your actual job starts to find the missing books. * 1. First, you pull the complete accession numbers list from koha in the excel file. Ensure, your accession numbers are in *COLUMN A* 2. Secondly, copy the accession numbers from your stock verification excel sheet and paste it in the first excel sheet (pulled from koha) in *COLUMN C* to match the records and find the missing. 3. Now, you have to add the formula in the *COLUMN B. * *= vlookup(A1,C:C,1,FALSE)* 4. It will match column A to column C and show the result in *COLUMN **B*. Here, the records which are not found will show #NA. 5. Just, filter it and this is your missing list. 6. Ask the staff to search it again. If found good else* "YOUR STOCK VERIFICATION LIST is WITH YOU"* Hope it helps you to complete stock verification. Here is the text of an appeal for your reference. *__________________________________________________* *An Appeal to the Honourable Prime Minister of India* *Sub: Relocation of the GOI Libraries to the New Secretariat Complex, Central Vista * Sir, We understand that the Government of India is planning to construct a new secretariat complex to house the various ministries that are presently scattered in different buildings like Krishi Bhawan, Udyog Bhawan, Nirman Bhawan, Shastri Bhavan etc. All these building as well as the National Archives Annexe, IGNCA and National Museum host libraries and cultural artefacts We, the members of the Library and Information Service (LIS) profession and Indian Heritage lovers, are immensely concerned about the relocation, reorganisation and conservation/preservation of the cultural heritage and books housed in libraries of these buildings. For instance, the Central Secretariat Library (CSL) in Shastri Bhawan is the second largest government library with more than one million volumes. The National Archives (Annexe) has the largest collection of old government records. IGNCA has more than 200,000 manuscripts collected under the National Mission for Manuscripts initiated by the earlier NDA government. We earnestly appeal to you to take appropriate measures for proper relocation and upkeep of our precious heritage material. This will need suitable and accessible space for reorganising these cultural heritage for posterity. There will be a need for adoption of international standards for conservation/preservation of these materials; creation of appropriate climate controlled space for the artefacts and rare books. It is essential to have trained manpower to maintain and to provide service to the prospective users. We suggest that a task force may be constituted by the government comprising academicians, library professionals, archivists, museum curators/conservationists and Indian heritage lovers for meticulous planning and execution as we have to reckon with a task of enormous magnitude. We all hope that necessary steps will be taken by the Government of India so that we do not lose even a minuscule of our rich heritage. DSpace 7.0 will be released on/by Monday, August 2, 2021! This release finally brings together two user interfaces and their communities, who had previously been working in parallel. The ambition is to bring together the best of both JSPUI and XMLUI worlds, meaning that all features are re-imagined, and re-implemented on a single new user interface technology, Angular. This new UI is backed by a brand new REST API, which opens all data & features to the web, allowing DSpace to integrate or interact with external systems/services like never before. The switch to Angular also allows for more rapid innovation. Angular has the potential to attract developers with prior expertise, given the popularity and global traction of Angular across industries. What will be included in DSpace 7.0? The efforts contributed to DSpace 7 are the largest endeavour ever undertaken by the DSpace community. The DSpace 7.0 release will concentrate on the following major features: A new User Interface based on Angular (to replace XMLUI and JSPUI). This work is going on in the "main" branch of https://github.com/DSpace/dspace-angular An exhaustive list of all major features already in 7.0 can be found in the 7.0 Release Notes (for each Beta). A refactored/enhanced REST API (using modern REST best practices). This work is going on in the "main" branch of https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace Additionally, a new REST Contract (describing all API interactions) is being written at https://github.com/DSpace/RestContract Redesigned submissions and workflows featuring a one page submission process with a drag-and-drop interface and newly redesigned MyDSpace. A new Configurable Entities object model, which allows for the creation of new "typed" Items, and storing relationships between Items. This feature will allow for tighter integration with external identifier systems (e.g. ORCID), current research information systems (CRIS), journal publishing systems, etc. This work was completed by the DSpace 7 Entities Working Group. Dear Scholars Cultural heritage connects people to social and cultural values, customs, beliefs, religions, and the knowledge generated by our forefathers in different spheres of activity including science and technology; accumulated through centuries which we need to sustain and transfer to future generations. Informatics can provide innovative tools and technologies for management of heritage assets and knowledge embedded in them for dissemination in society. Informatics Studies proposes to bring out a special volume on Cultural Heritage Information System (CHIS) in October 2021. The volume will give stress to various aspects of cultural heritage information systems including digitization tools and technologies, retrieval mechanisms, metadata and indexing, policy issues, standards and guidelines, semantic and ontological frameworks and the best practices and case studies pertaining to CHIS. The journal Informatics Studies is in its eighth year of publication and select issues are accessible at: informaticsstudies.org.
