Suspected Leak of UGC -NET Question Paper -Dec 2011

Dear friends, I wrote UGC-NET exam, Dec 2011 in LIS at Vidyadhiraja Vidya Bhavan, Aluva, Kerala conducted under Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). We were shocked to find that question booklets for Paper 2 and Paper 3 were duplicates of an original booklet. Instead of the coloured normal seal it beared a plain white sticker. So the seriel no of the booklet was same for all the candiates in LIS who wrote exam at this centre. The booklets of Paper 1 (General) and Paper 2 and 3 for other subjects were not faulty. When canditates raised objection, we were told to finish the exam and register a complaint afterwards. Candidates have given a written complaint to the UGC NET exam co-ordinator of CUSAT. A copy will be sent to UGC also. Some Malayalam channels reported the incident. The unverified information we got from different sources tell CUSAT does not recieved question booklets from UGC on time. Later on a copy was faxed from UGC to CUSAT and they photocopied the entire thing. If this is true, the questions of an important national exam were exposed to different people much before the exam. If CUSAT did not recieved the original booklets from UGC, then where it went missing? An inquiry should be made immedietly into this matter and the exam should be cancelled. On behalf of candidates who wrote exam at CUSAT centre, I register strong protest aganist the mismanagement of UGC NET -2011 and making a mockery of the candidates who wrote the exam all over India. -- Mithun Raj M. They ask us "RBI do not sell any currency and they provide the indicative rates only and based on these indicative rates other Banks are doing business and fix the rates of buying and selling of foreign currency". Dr. Naushad Ali P.M,* Chairman, Dept. of Library Science welcomed the gathering and briefed about the workshop. If such kind of intellectual activities continue, the university will cherish to remain at the helm of the higher education in the country. During* *the presidential address, *Prof. Anwar Jahan Zuberi, *the Dean,* *enlightened that even the educators find it difficult to locate most appropriate databases or resources to search for relevant information for their research and developmental activities. The course will help to solve this problem in some extent. She also appreciated the Department for selecting such a time demanding theme for this short term course conducted for the teachers of Faculty of Social Science of the University. More than forty five faculties, working professionals and research scholars were rigorously skilled over six days in total of eighteen sessions conducted in Auditorium of Faculty of Social Science, Computer Lab of the Department of Library and Information Science and Audio Visual Hall of Department of Geology, Aligarh Muslim University. Hi, I think you have save it with high DP or use color option. If you using black and white then file size will be less. If document is color and u want to color scan then reduce the DP. If size is not reducing then PDF has option to reduce the file size, use it. Hope u will help it. Dear Professional Friends, AICTE has made some mandatory regulations to subscribe international e Journal packages to the colleges comes under its per-view. Accordingly we got the quotations and prepared the proposal and got it approved from our college management. We have used the GOC in converting the foreign currencies. All of us know, GOC will fix the indian currency rate to foreign currencies and it announces the rate once in a month. Today I have received an email regarding the change of currency conversion and they have changed the USD rate to 56.30. Suddenly they have changed the conversion rate in between the month. Is it fair? Dear Friends, Lot of seminars in national level announced recently. Announcement appeared in most of the discussion forums, blogs and social networking sites for library professionals. Paper presentation is the attraction of the seminar. Invitation mainly for attending the conference and inviting papers for presentation. Both participants and those who submit papers are need to register and pay the fee. Often, seminar registration fee is between Rs. 500 and 5000. Organisers also receiving fund from other agencies. Unfortunately, seminar organisers are not ensure the quality and content of the seminar. Most of the papers are equivalent to class assignment. All papers are accepted without peer reviewing. And no provision for plagiarism checking. It seems that main aim of the organisers are collect money by receiving maximum number of registration. Seminars should encourage the advancement of knowledge. Such events should act as a platform for showcasing current trends in the topic and participants can brush up their existing knowledge. Seminar organisers must ensure the quality of the event by receiving papers only after strict checking. And organisers should not receive registration fee from participants who like to submit papers. Prize for best paper is ideal for encourage authors to prepare quality publications. Separate prizes should distribute for best paper from student and working professionals. Organisers should send certificate to authors who could not attend the seminar. Dear Members NCSI-Net lecture for the month of August 2011 held at NCSI seminar hall on 10th December 2011. Around 15 members and fellow professionals were present. Lecture (Demonstration) started on Innovations in Library Automation Process: The Trion Journey” by Sven Carlson, CEO, Trion AG. Speaker started his talk by explaining the traditional library concepts and how he entered in to the field of developing library technologies. He highlighted the role of front desk operators in maintaining cordial relation and attracting patrons to use the library resources, he also spoke about how it can be automated to self check-in and check-out mechanism using RFID technologies and making service available for 24X7. He gave demo of Trion technologies like self-service kiosks, Automatic sorting and transporting them to right floor (right rack) etc. The video presentation of libraries who have implemented Trion technologies was interesting. He also talked about the costs involved in implementing these technologies in the beginning of planning new library and implementing in the later stage. There was a good interaction from the audience. However, the institution can retain a non-exclusive license to make copies of dissertations or theses as needed for the academic or archival purposes of the institution. This can include providing open access to the work on the Internet (institutional repository). If necessary, to protect legitimate proprietary interests and IP (such as patent rights), students should have an option to delay the public display of their dissertation or thesis (embargo period), until they secure the patent. The Indian government, which this year already passed new content-removal rules for websites, now wants to take it a step further and censor some of the most-used websites like Google and Facebook -- before the people of India even get to see the content! India's Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal is asking internet and social media companies to proactively pre-screen user-generated content and remove it before it gets published. Really? This brazen attempt to silence expression online must not be tolerated and cannot be allowed to come to pass. We've seen the chilling effect these types of measures have in censorship regimes like China, Iran, and, Burma. Now India? As more and more of India's 1.2 billion people come online -- internet usage is expected to triple over the next three years to 300 million users -- we have to work together to ensure India's right to information is protected and all our rights to view content, wherever we may live, are respected. The Minister is starting to hear the opposition to this law -- now we need to turn up the pressure until he backs down. Social networking is a hackneyed phrase. It is a tool to connect people to people. Agricultural research, education, and extension are establishing connections with one to one and many to many in sharing and exchange of information. The advent of Internet has greatly facilitated and reinforced these connections by a variety of social network sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Blog, Flicker, Ning etc. The session will focus on pragmatic approach on the role of social media as a catalyst in establishing connections for advancing agriculture.
