The concepts of “reviewed research” and “reviewed publications” are gaining momentum currently. Only the reviewed and indexed research pieces qualify for the ratings and rankings of Universities and Institutions. In other words, the performance and standing of Universities are measured in terms of reviewed and indexed research papers in global databases. Thus, it is essential to bring a large number of ‘reviewed’ research papers from Indian Universities. The quality publication output is required not just only to keep a good ranking, but also to ensure a high level scholarly environment in the country. Publications reflect the character of the innovative research and it is used as a yardstick to measure the research contributions and research impact of individuals, institutions or nations. The impact of research publications is practically used also by agencies and institutions in deciding funding, tenures, promotion and other related activities. Publications are practically used as the indicator to measure the quantum of research output. The publications indexed in the databases such as Scopus and ISI Thompson only are considered as publications at the global level. A large number of Indian papers are not accepted in ranked journals and many researchers do not gain an understanding of producing better content. Publishing the papers in peer-reviewed and internationally indexed journals is increasingly important, which will increase researchers’ index and wide acceptance and academic profiling. This is also very important for the ranking of the institutions and the countries. There is a need to understand the following processes. · The ways of producing good research and writing eminent papers · Gain exposure for creating new approaches and solve research problems · Understanding the ingredients of a good paper · The characteristics of a good scientific reporting · The approach to learning good model · The content of a good research, good review and revision *Objectives & Contents of the Workshop* These issues need to be explained to Indian academic researchers, particularly the young ones. To keep them focused on such issues will be possible by orienting them via workshops and awareness programs. The INFLIBNET identified this need and consequently a training workshop is organized, to carry out this plan. The following themes are the learning outcome for the participants*. * · How to produce qualitative research publication? · How to reflect the research carried out through the publication? · What are the measures for research impact? · What is the best way to disseminate research? · How to structure the research publication? · How to assess the reviewed publication? · What is indexed research? · How to integrate the research in the process of global review and indexing? · How to increase the research publication quality and record high research productivity? Young researchers need to be motivated to generate high quality research and focused on the global reviewed and indexed research. This workshop will enable the researchers to understand the research publication process and to participate in the global research network. The workshop will discuss the ways to optimize the research publication activities and the structure of research publications, review and indexing process, methods of generating good publications, demonstration of global indexing databases, research networks and other citation and evaluation metrics. The workshop will have presentations by experts, illustrations and discussions. The workshop will also have an exclusive session with interaction and discussions on ‘academic profiling with research publications and citation metrics’. *Who will handle the sessions?* The workshop sessions will be handled by prolific NRI scientists. *Who can participate? * This workshop is intended mainly for young researchers, academicians and scientists from Colleges, Universities, Research Laboratories and Scientific Agencies. On occasion of Dr S R Ranganathan's Birth Anniversary, we are organising a 'National level workshop on Library Automation using Koha Open Source Software' from 09 – 11 Aug 2013. Koha : It is the First Open-Source Web-based Integrated Library System (ILS) with a SQL database backend that includes modules for Circulation, Cataloging, Acquisitions, Serials, Patron (Member) management, Library Branch relationships, and many more features. Koha is built using international library standards and protocols that ensure interoperability between Koha and other systems. It supports technologies like cataloging data stored in MARC and accessible via Z39.50 and also supports existing work-flows and tools. Koha has most of the features that would be expected in an ILS, Purpose of this workshop : To provide hands-on training to library professionals by providing adequate practical knowledge which will enable to automate the libraries on their own by using Koha. The workshop also will be useful to those who wish to migrate to Koha. Workshop comprises of lectures, demonstrations and hands-on training using Koha software in detail. Each participant will be provided with a dedicated machine. It is always advisable to keep separate register as Book Bank Accession Register and for which numbering should be different should start from number 1. and no any connection with regular register. While feeding in software, you can define 2 series as one for "book Bank' and second one for 'regular/Text,Reference books'. This facility is surely available in any software.(The number of titles will also increase while calculating) All the best for book bank scheme and for any assistance you can directly contact.
