Seventh International Conference on Science & Technology Metrics (STMet 2025) Physical/Virtual October 02=04, 2026 Bali, Indonesia Universitas Islam Negari Sunan Kalijaga, Indonesia Sessions will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn, Bali. https://www.socio.org.uk/stm Co-located with Springer Real-Time Intelligent Systems (https://www.socio.org.uk/rtis) Building metrics is key to measuring science and technology and translating those measures to improve outcomes. The metric is not confined to drawing numbers and analysing. Selecting a metric depends on synthesising multiple directions and evidence-based data, producing scientific and technological evaluation benchmarks and standards, and implementing them with real data to mark a full-fledged system. Recently, we have witnessed the emergence of new metrics-based models that aim to reflect the growth of science and technology. The proposed Science and Technology Metrics (STMet 2026) conference addresses assessing various aspects of science and technology using multiple metrics, which can be best expressed through different approaches. In addition to the standard conference track and the Doctoral Symposium, STMetrics will host several workshops and tutorials related to the conference theme. The workshops provide participants with a friendly, interactive atmosphere for presenting novel ideas and discussing the application of metrics in Science and Technology Systems. The tutorials aim to enable participants to familiarise themselves with the theoretical and practical aspects, as well as the application of metrics. The proposed conference includes invited talks, presentations, tutorials, workshops, and discussions. The STMet has tracks on specialized topics. The STMet addresses the themes below, but is not limited to them. The proposed conference includes invited talks, presentations, tutorials, workshops, and discussions. Documentation Research & Training Centre (DRTC) Indian Statistical Institute 8th Mile, Mysore Road, RVCE Post Bangalore, 560059 Colloquium-3 (2025-2027) Title - Plagiarism: The Plague in Academia Abstract: Plagiarism is a serious violation of academic integrity that involves presenting another person’s work, ideas, or language as one’s own without proper acknowledgment. Over time, plagiarism has evolved from direct copying in traditional academia to more complex forms in the digital age, including patchwork and self-plagiarism. The emergence of AI-generated content has further challenged conventional notions of originality and authorship. Since authorship requires accountability, intention, and ethical responsibility, AI cannot be considered an author. Academic institutions and publishers have responded through stricter editorial policies, plagiarism detection systems, and guidelines for responsible AI use. This presentation also outlines ethical practices to avoid plagiarism and highlights UGC regulations in India, including similarity thresholds and penalties, emphasizing the need for transparency and responsible scholarship. Requesting guidance on library support to a Differentially abled user.
by Pranit Landge 17 Feb '26

Respected fellow library professionals, Greetings of the season!! May I please request the guidance of senior professionals in regards with the UGC or concern GoI directives/Memorandums/Office orders in regards with the *library support to the Differently abled (Partially Visually Challenged) research scholar in a university library environment*. My peculiar questions are: 1. Whether the library is responsible for providing scribe support to a research scholar who is already availing monetary benefits for scribe from UGC? 2. Whether scribe is entitled for all the library service benefits as a regular user? 3. Has any library professional has faced similar issues? and the situation was resolved? appreciate your kind response and guidance for this matter. धन्यवाद / Thank you, प्रणित लांडगे / Pranit Landge. सहायक पुस्तकालयाध्यक्ष / Assistant Librarian भारतीय विदेश व्यापार संस्थान (आई.आई.एफ.टी.), Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), बी-21, कुतुब सांस्थानिक क्षेत्र, नई दिल्ली - 110016 B-21, Qutab Institutional Area, New Delhi - 110016 भ्रमणध्वनी / Mobile No. +91 9561827902

Formula Classification - Book
by V.A. Seshagiri Rao 11 Feb '26

11 Feb '26

Dear Sir/Madam, Good Morning I am *Dr V.A. Sesha Giri Rao*, author of the book titled Step by Step classification (SSC), A formula-based classification published by ESS ESS publications, New Delhi, India, in 2017. Based on feedback from professors and experts in Library and Information Science, I made several improvements to the Step-by-Step Classification The title of the SSC scheme has been changed to “*Formula classification*,” and it is published by the same publisher, ESS Publications, New Delhi, India. The book is available at https://essess.net.in/detail.jsp?b=864 Some experts in the field have opined that this FC scheme applies to Knowledge Organisation (KO) and metadata because of their unique nature and formula classification. In this regard, I humbly submit that it is beyond my knowledge of KO and Metadata, and of the usefulness of FC in those fields. However, if the scheme is useful in those fields, being an author, it would be an immense pleasure for me. The scheme is also considered a ‘Dual classification’ scheme, as it provides notations not only for subject content but also for physical forms of documents, such as leaves, clay tablets, metals, and electronic gadgets. Hence, the scheme will also be useful to the relevant libraries and museums. In this regard, I am pleased to inform you that the IFLA Newsletter published an article on Formula classification in the December 2025 issue of New Books. Thanks & Regards, Dr. V.A. Sesha Giri Rao email: Seshagiri.rao.va(a)gmail.com

FYI ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: John Chrastka <john.chrastka(a)everylibrary.org> Date: Sat, 7 Feb, 2026, 01:06 Subject: Watch "The Librarians" documentary next week [image: EveryLibrary] I want to personally invite you to watch The Librarians, a new documentary about censorship, libraries, and the fight for the right to read, premiering *next week on Independent Lens on PBS <https://www.everylibrary.org/r?u=h1TjVHrGVqoDXetEIDQf5X8ACM57Jl80dhploziA9g…>.* ------------------------------ *HELP SPREAD THE WORD!* *Click to share this on Facebook <https://www.everylibrary.org/r?u=jjGfyJxL-MGJj0IEscm6A2bsclsOywVa08N6yUL-gi…>, Blusky <https://www.everylibrary.org/r?u=VCDEDAivEXJkhvEwezjdEqb3dksoA2rNdeJ1fnZPMC…>, Twitter <https://www.everylibrary.org/r?u=GLM13p-FFBVqz0HaZGKpdCDJbYUsIgR2XLtm67ut2_…>, LinkedIn <https://www.everylibrary.org/r?u=tUEUcbSf-nYUTYw_Y59nHsVBcO0BrJTOZz92t96wOA…>, and Threads <https://www.everylibrary.org/r?u=o2VXDdm8uj5Xxd_cFhPOWOt1HA0vIE4tb5wf_PStsA…>* ------------------------------ I’m hoping you watch this film not just because it is an interesting story about censorship and discrimination in libraries and schools. I hope you watch because this is a story that is important to me professionally and personally. The people featured in the documentary are more than just characters in an interesting movie. They are real librarians, parents, and educators who showed up with integrity, courage, and resolve, often at significant personal cost, to protect the right to read in their school and public libraries. Many of them are friends and colleagues. I can vouch for the truth of what this documentary shows. ------------------------------ <https://www.everylibrary.org/r?u=kba8enAZsNfizdj61xDpC34qfD-ODdkk65QuNOr7F7…> FIND YOUR SHOWING <https://www.everylibrary.org/r?u=kba8enAZsNfizdj61xDpC34qfD-ODdkk65QuNOr7F7…> *Find your local showing of The Librarians on Season 27, episode 6 of Independent Lens using TV Insider here <https://www.everylibrary.org/r?u=kba8enAZsNfizdj61xDpC34qfD-ODdkk65QuNOr7F7…>.* *Or find it streaming on the PBS app <https://www.everylibrary.org/r?u=h1TjVHrGVqoDXetEIDQf5cTNeHe6OS-D8W7u2_7IVC…> starting February 9th.* ------------------------------ I want you to meet these people and see their dedication, integrity, and powerful work firsthand. I would like you to meet Carolyn Foote, who is now a Fellow with the EveryLibrary Institute, co-founded the Texas Freadom Fighters to counter censorship in schools; Martha Hixon, who currently serves on our board of directors and never wavers in her defense of LGBTQ students. Amanda Jones, who was maligned and attacked by political leaders in Louisiana; Laney Hawes, who co-founded the Texas Freedom to Read project <https://www.everylibrary.org/r?u=0NkRIneiQda8qT_X4bVYGGUffTMS1g_pV6dYw09bst…> (which your donations have helped fund) to support every school district like she did for her own; and Julie Miller, who fought back against the lies behind some of the most weaponized book ban campaigns in American history*.* *The Librarians* captures the earliest days of the current censorship crisis when book challenges were being supercharged by political actors not just to discredit institutions or malign individual librarians, but to use censorship itself as a tool of discrimination and erasure. I know this because EveryLibrary was there for many of the people in the film, as partners and allies while it was happening. I know it because the story of attempts to censor books and campaigns to fight for the First Amendment continue to this day. ------------------------------ <https://www.everylibrary.org/donate?e=9e998e3a996bc6d988c8ca494502e706&utm_…> DONATE TODAY <https://www.everylibrary.org/donate?e=9e998e3a996bc6d988c8ca494502e706&utm_…> *You can donate today <https://www.everylibrary.org/donate?e=9e998e3a996bc6d988c8ca494502e706&utm_…> to help us continue to fight against book bans across the United States.* ------------------------------ The timing of this premiere is important. It launches at the very start of Library Lovers Week 2026, when EveryLibrary is hosting a series of author conversations that center reading, libraries, and access to books, because that is exactly what is at stake. I hope you’ll watch the film on PBS. I also hope you’ll join us for the Library Lovers Week panels, both live and on demand, and engage with this moment alongside authors, readers, and advocates from across the country. You can learn more about our author events from February 9 to 13 and RSVP at *www.libraryloversweek.org* <https://www.everylibrary.org/r?u=QZwnq6KUJmNxAOJHdc4WygJcA2Ig6TGTr96i1VFhch…> *.* Films like *The Librarians* and our Library Lovers Week panels are not about abstract concepts. They are about what is really happening in communities across America, and about the unique and powerful role librarians, parents, and local stakeholders can play when they stand up for what they believe. I look forward to hearing what you think.
