Cost of workshop on open source software

This is further to the discussion on the Cost of workshop on open source software, I would like to share my experiences in this regard. I have organized two national workshops on open source software. The fees of the workshop was Rs. 1000/- without accommodation and Rs.1500/- with AC Accommodation. I do agree with the views of Dr.G.K. Manjunath because the total cost of each workshop was around Rs. 2 Lakhs. We collected around Rs.65,000 from participation fees, around Rs.80,000 from sponsorship and rest expenses were beared by our institute. So, the cost on each candidate was around Rs.3000/-. This year again, BIMTECH is going to organize a National workshop on Koha in the month of May. Respected Forum Members, I have designed and develop a site by name "Link Library of Open Access English Language Journals": http://lislinks.blogspot.com/ . This is perhaps the world's third largest collection of open access journals after DOAJ and Open J-Gate that provides searching facilities at article level. But the present site has added advantage of retrieving the relevant results than that of other two (statistically it still need to be proved). I just like to request the LIS Professional to have a try over the site. Just go to the site, select from the subject that are listed in the left hand side bar and perform a search on the new page. Articles on all aspects of e-books - library acquisition; innovative publishing models; usage; business models etc. - will all be considered for publication. To, Moderator Digital Information Management (DigIn) Certificate program admission is now open for 2009-10. Scholarships are available. The University of Arizona School of Information Resources and Library Science is pleased to announce that openings are available in the school's graduate certificate program in Digital Information Management (DigIn), and that scholarships are available for students entering the program in 2009. The DigIn program features hands-on experience and focused instruction supporting careers in libraries, archives, records management, museums, as well as in the private sector. The certificate includes six courses covering a wide range of topics relevant to today's digital information environment, including digital collections, applied technology, technology planning and leadership, policy and ethics, digital preservation and research data curation. For information professionals just starting in the field or considering career changes, the DigIn certificate program offers an alternative path to graduate studies that helps prepare students for success in traditional graduate programs or the workplace. The certificate also provides a means for working professionals and those who already have advanced graduate degrees in library and information sciences, archives, museum studies or other fields to broaden their knowledge and skills in today's rapidly evolving digital information landscape. The program is delivered 100% online and has no residency requirements. Students generally complete the certificate in four or six semesters (15 months or 27 months). Beginning this year, DigIn applicants will be able to enter the program at the start of the Summer, Fall, or Spring semesters. The application deadline for Summer '09 is April 1. The deadline for Fall '09 admission is July 1, and for Spring '10 the deadline will be Nov. 1. DigIn was developed in cooperation with the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records and the University of Arizona Outreach College. Major funding for the program comes from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), which has also provided scholarship funding.
