A new book announcement
by Siddu Huded 30 Jun '22

30 Jun '22

Dear Professional Friends, Greetings from Azim Premji University..! We are pleased to inform you that the book, ‘Macroeconomics: An Introduction’ authored by Prof. Alex Thomas, Assistant Professor, Azim Premji University had published in 2021. It introduces the reader to an alternative approach of understanding macroeconomics, which is inspired by the works of Adam Smith, David Ricardo, Karl Marx, John Maynard Keynes, and Piero Sraffa. It also presents a critical account of mainstream marginalist macroeconomics. The book begins with a brief history of economic theories and then takes the reader through three different ways of conceptualizing the macroeconomy. Subsequently, the theories of money and interest rates, output and employment levels, and economic growth are discussed. It ends by providing a policy template for addressing the macroeconomic concerns of unemployment and inflation. The conceptual discussion in Macroeconomics is situated within the context of the Indian economy. Besides using publicly available data, the contextual description is instantiated using excerpts from works of fiction by Indian authors. The mailer provides a brief description. We believe the book would be a useful addition to your library and perhaps of interest to many members who avail of your facilities. The book is available on the Amazon site and the short URL for the Amazon link is https://www.amazon.in/Macroeconomics-Introduction-Alex-M-Thomas/dp/11087319… The book is also up in bookstores. *Best Regards* *Siddu M.
