Dear Librarians, Namaste from RapidRadio Solutions. We are pleased to announce *"RFID Workshop - Knowledge Series II"* - an initiative/effort from RapidRadio to share the knowledge of *RFID Technology & its Integration with LMS* with the community. The workshop sessions shall be conducted at different institutes across India between 30th Sept 2021 to 31st December 2022. Detailed list of institutes and respective workshop dates will be available on https://rapidradio.co.in/library/workshop/ . Keep checking the same for updated workshops. *The first two workshops are at Ernakulam Public Library, Ernakulam - 30th September 2022 and PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, Coimbatore - 28 October 2022.* RapidRadio along this journey of 15 long years have acquired more than 250 library clients across India & surrounding countries. We are thankful to the library fraternity for trusting this Indian RFID manufacturer and helping us to become one of the leading players in the RFID Automation market for libraries. Over these years we have seen that the decision to purchase RFID systems & executing the project, after the decision is made, has been one of the toughest jobs for the librarian & the institute as a whole. We strongly feel that librarians who have already implemented RFID in their libraries should come forward and share their experiences with fellow librarians on how they go about this difficult decision making process. We wish to facilitate and encourage such experience sharing during workshop sessions. The complete list of speakers will be available on the web page who would be speaking at different sessions. We welcome one and all from the Library fraternity to participate in this event through filling up the registration form. Difference between DOI and Handle system
by Atanu Garai 22 Sep '22

22 Sep '22

Hi Community, DOI and Handle are two widely used persistent URI methods. I am wondering if there are any difference between those two and which system we shall select. I have come across a few preprint records where the record is a copy of record hosted in an original preprint server and the DOI in the copied server is referencing to the original server's URL. Should digital libraries need to refer to only original URI? Thank you for your inputs. by vinod mishra 18 Sep '22

18 Sep '22

Dear all It's my pleasure to inform you that just Yesterday I came to know that my book is recommended by UGC in one of the library science subjects under Learning Outcome Based Curriculum Framework (LOCF). It's a great motivation and honor for me because few Indian renowned authors' work is recommended in the entire library science syllabus out of which my book is also recognized. This news boosted me at the right time when I am planning for more innovative and research and development related works. Thanks to my Research Guide Prof. Durga Sankar Rath, Vidyasagar University, Prof. H.N. Prasad, Prof. Aditya Tripathi, and other Teachers, colleagues of Banaras Hindu University, NIT Rourkela for their support, blessings and encouragement. The entire credit I would like to give Koha community for development of this wonderful ILMS software and LIS professionals from India and abroad who always motivated for the good works. https://www.amazon.in/Library-Automation-Management-Software-Migration/dp/8… With Regards, Vinod Kumar Mishra, Assistant Librarian, Biju Patnaik Central Library (BPCL), NIT Rourkela, Sundergadh-769008, Odisha, India. Role of Libraries in managing micro-data
by Atanu Garai 16 Sep '22

16 Sep '22

Hi All, Our partner conducts a lot of surveys to measure water quality using ODK (an open source survey framework) and they would like to publish those datasets (survey data, questionnaire) in the Digital Library. Our initial reading of literature on this topic suggests that Libraries can play a key role in managing the microdata (or big data), especially in the academic and research contexts. I would be happy to get your inputs on the requirements, for example: 1. How do you want to bring the microdata in digital library platform from the survey app 2. How do you want to let the user discover microdata? Will it have the same search and filter interface that uses to discover documents? 3. How do you want to present such data to the user - table, data visualization? This will help team SocialWell to evolve a design framework that caters to a wider requirement.
