The main objective of this seminar is to create awareness of the E-Resources & to enhance the professional development especially on Digital Skills. It aims at providing a forum for learning & exchanging ideas & knowledge among Librarians & Academicians. About The College: “The only service to be given is to give… that education by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased, the intellect is expanded and by which one can stand on one’s own leg”. So goes the emphatic message of Swami Vivekananda. Inspired by this ideal, Swami Chidbhavananda, the great saint, seer and savant, widely known for the power and depth of his spirituality, founded Sri Ramakrishna Tapovanam, Trichy. Among the seven colleges run by Sri Ramakrishna Tapovanam, Sri Sarada College, Tirunelveli was started in 1986 to cater to the educational needs of the women of the southern districts of the Tamil Nadu. The college was started with 60 students in 3 UG courses. Now the college has grown to students’ strength of 1053 with 9 UG courses, 3 PG Courses & one PG Diploma Course. A UV detector set at 313 nm was used for quantitation. The method was applied to commercial toothpastes containing 5% potassium nitrate and yielded an average recovery of 100.1% with a relative standard deviation of 1.43%. Average recovery of nitrate and nitrite from spiked samples were 100.6% and 96.4%, respectively. Unlikely, both are transaction systems, that record data. Such systems should take up very less disk space. In any case disk space should not worry you, since it is very cheap nowadays. I am not clear as to what your requirements are - do you have a lot of visual material in digital or electronic format or are these physical items? If you have these in digital format, you should use Dspace. If these are physical you should use Koha. Note that in Koha It is possible to provide links to electronic material, which can in turn be stored on Dspace. So a Koha + Dspace combination is also something you might want to consider if you have electronic material and physical items that you want to circulate. Call for Papers: Global Conclave of Young Scholars of Indian Education 2011 27-29 January 2011 Organized by: National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA), New Delhi, India Call for Papers The first Global Concave of Young Scholars of Indian Education presents a unique opportunity for young scholars (doctoral and post-doctoral researchers and early-career faculty) working on any aspect of Indian education in universities and research institutes in India and abroad to come together, to share and to showcase their research, to network and to publish across boundaries of nations and disciplines. The young scholars will also have the benefit of critique and advice from senior, renowned scholars who shall be invited to give special lectures, to comment on the current status of educational research, to suggest directions for future research, and to discuss the selected papers. Those under 35 years of age are particularly encouraged to apply. Submission of Proposals and Papers Given the wide canvas of research on Indian education, the theme for the conclave is open-ended. Papers are invited on any aspect of Indian education. The papers may explore theoretical and ideological orientations, empirical realities, issues of method, design and disciplinary boundaries. They could focus exclusively on Indian education or present comparisons with other countries. In the first instance, abstracts of 300-500 words (including statement of the problem, research strategy and findings) along with contact information, designation, institutional affiliation, disciplinary background and one page CV should be submitted by email to nuepa.conclave(a)nuepa.org and nuepa.conclave(a)gmail.com by 25 August 2010. Successful candidates shall be informed by 15 September 2010. Full research papers shall be solicited from the successful candidates by 15 November 2010. All abstract and paper submissions should be formatted in Times New Roman font, size 12, and spaced 1.5 lines. Both abstracts and papers shall be subject to a process of peer review. Papers that lend themselves to publication will be selected for submission as a special issue in an internationally reputed peer-reviewed journal. Financial Support A limited number of bursaries towards travel and accommodation expenses will also be provided. Those interested in availing of the bursaries are requested to apply for the same along with their full paper. Those being awarded bursaries shall be informed by 30 November 2010.
