This can result in failure to find relevant documents when there is ambiguity with the place names and names of organizations, people, buildings and streets. Librarians and bibliographers used to maintain authority files for disambiguating among them with proper choice of attribute sets. But, complexity increases when the data is unstructured as in news articles, blogs, tweets. For, successful execution of location-based and feature-based queries, the construction of spatial indices based on the spatial attributes is required, including the integration of text indexing with spatial indexing methods that exploit geo-tagging procedures to categorize documents with respect to geographic space. In this seminar, we will discuss about geo-tagging, possible spatial indexing structures and few research problems in this area. In this context, i would like to provide some useful evaluation studies and Latest report on Resources Discovery services and Marshell Breeding ( Full text can be downloaded from the link provided below) 1. Paths of Discovery: Comparing the Search effectiveness of EBSCO Discovery Service, Summon, Google Scholar, and Conventional Library Resources ( http://crl.acrl.org/content/early/2012/05/07/crl-374.abstract Abstract ) In 2011, researchers at Bucknell University and Illinois Wesleyan University compared the search efficacy of Serial Solutions Summon, EBSCO Discovery Service, Google Scholar and conventional library databases. Using a mixed-methods approach, qualitative and quantitative data was gathered on students' usage of these tools. Regardless of the search system, students exhibited a marked inability to effectively evaluate sources and a heavy reliance on default search settings. On the quantitative benchmarks measured by this study, the EBSCO Discovery Service tool outperformed the other search systems in almost every category. This article describes these results and makes recommendations for libraries considering these tools. *2. Library System Report 2014 By Marsehll Breeding* EBSCO currently stands as the front-runner, with a long lead of 5,612 library subscribers to EDS. OCLC reports 1,717 libraries with access to WorldCat Local, though a smaller number use it as their primary discovery interface. MyLISA's Pusthaka (Book) Dasara 2014

Dear LIS Friends, Books are treasures. People with reading passion develop their own book treasures. After their use, the books lie unused, and remain in the treasury, some times eternally, waiting for some one to read them. They will be craving for their freedom. MyLISA, Mysore heard their grumbling sound and come out with a new campaign under the banner ‘*Book Dasara 2014*’ with the support of Department of Library and Information Science, University of Mysore, Mysore. Also, Padmashree S.R. Ranganathan, has succinctly given the philosophy of library services in the form of five fundamental laws. The third law ‘*every book its reader*’, emphasis librarians to be active in helping the books to discover its readers. In this effort MyLISA tries to conform to this law. *Book Dasara 2014 is a campaign to collect the 'Used Books' from the donors and distribute to the libraries. This campaign is being held first time in Mysore. * The books so collected between September 5 and 25, 2014 will be exhibited during first week of October 2014 for selection by libraries and children. Till date we have received 600+ books and we are expecting to reach 4 digits.
