Institutional Journal Index (IJI) beta version is released
by STM STMet 2024 22 Jul '24

22 Jul '24

The Institutional Journal Index (IJI) beta version is released now. You can access it at www.ijiweb.net https://www.ijiweb.net About IJI Many databases, directories, and indexes capture the global research output. While many journals are indexed in more than one index, some journals are not attracted by any index or database. Institutional journals, including some in-house research journals (particularly those that publish research papers), are excluded from directories and indexes. The research published in these journals represents local interest and Indigenous research and reports significant findings. However, these journals remain invisible despite their acceptable contribution. The IJI captures such invisible research and makes it available on its platform. We do not measure or judge the quality of papers for inclusion but use a few minimum quality thresholds before entering them into IJI. IJI is an article-level index of research journals published by institutions such as colleges, universities and laboratories. It is available on an open-access platform. -----------------------------

How about Project Indiana?
by Subbiah Arunachalam 13 Jul '24

13 Jul '24

Friends, Canada is coming up with a wonderful (open access) digital library. Please see: https://internetarchivecanada.org/2024/07/01/internet-archive-canada-launch… . We in India did make some efforts, witness the Million Book project (spearheaded by Pfof. 'Balki' Balakrishnan of IISc ) and the national digital library at IITKh. Commendable as these are, we are nowhere near what we need to really have. Prof. Robert Darnton, historian and former librarian at Harvard, wrote and spoke about the origin of the Digital Public Library of America. That is the kind of digital library we should aim for in India. That could also double up as a national level repository of all our scholarly output, past and current. Europe has Europeana. Best wishes. Arun

Requesting Research Articles
by Francis Jayakanth 04 Jul '24

04 Jul '24

Dear Members, I am seeking your assistance in obtaining a couple of research articles that one of our students urgently needs. Unfortunately, our library does not have access to these articles. I have already searched the NUSSCI union catalogue extensively. I have sent requests to the libraries having the bound volumes of the journals in question but have not received any responses thus far. We also possess bound volumes of the two relevant journals in our library. However, as frequently happens, the specific issues needed are missing from our collection. Below are the details of the articles required: 1. Drug Metabolism and Disposition In Vitro Glucuronidation Using Human Liver Microsomes and The Pore-Forming Peptide Alamethicin Author/s Michael B. Fisher, Kristina Campanale, Bradley L. Ackermann, Mark VandenBranden and Steven A. WrightonYear 2000Publisher ASPET https://dmd.aspetjournals.org/content/28/5/560 2. Pharmacological reviews The search for synergy: a critical review from a response surface perspective. Author/s W R Greco, G Bravo and J C ParsonsYear 1995Publisher ASPET https://pharmrev.aspetjournals.org/content/47/2/331 I would greatly appreciate it if any colleague with access to these journals or articles could share copies. Thank you very much for your time and assistance. Best regards, Francis JRD Tata Memorial Library IISc.
