After news on sci-hub as a kind of illegal source for fetching journal articles, here is one more paper listing 5 little known or little used sources. This article briefly explains how sci-hub works. I have tried researchgate, academia, google scholar with good success. I am unable to figure our reddit structure / organisation. Otherwise that may prove to be a good source. Calgary cops have thrown the book at alleged members of a drug trafficking ring, accused of plying their trade outside the main downtown library branch and other public spots in the core. Police have charged 29 people with 128 charges after two separate police operations in the downtown core targeting sales of crystal meth, morphine, and in one of 30 seizures, fentanyl. In response to public complaints, investigators launched their first operation in December, focusing on the 17 Ave. S.W. corridor where dealers were spotted in the shadow of family restaurants along the popular strip. The first phase led to seven arrests, on charges ranging from drugs, to stolen property, to outstanding warrants. Last month, the operation moved to the 7 Ave. corridor, targeting dealers at the Central Library, Olympic Plaza and area restaurants. District 1 Insp. Cliff O’Brien said while the sweep targeted low-level, hand-to-hand dealers, the aim is to make the downtown a more comfortable destination for business people and families. “This is taking place sometimes in broad daylight, in front of families, and in front of people going to work, or going to read a book at the library,” he said. “We also saw a spike in the violence that was taking place in some of these high drug trafficking areas.” Calgary Public Library CEO Bill Ptacek lauded police on the operation he said ensures libraries remain safe gathering places for families. “Calgary’s Central Library is an integral part of Calgary’s downtown,” he said. “Like all of our 18 community libraries, it is designed to offer a safe community place that provides library services for all Calgarians within a respectful environment where lawful, civil behaviour is expected.” The second phase of the drug blitz collared 22 people, who are now facing 81 drug and criminal code charges. More than half of those arrested had been previously known to police, and O’Brien said 13 of those arrested have already been released. So far, investigators have been unable to link the downtown drug dealers to ongoing city-wide violence linked to organized crime. People are busy in getting projects by making fanciful proposals to the government and it dies without any much output. I agree there is no need of Librarian and other higher position's as i feel more comfortable under the In-chairmanship of any professor and they guided me a lot even though they are non LIS professionals because of which i could do something better for the concern Institute. Do not understand the logic of many associations except event organization as said my Prof. Rao. One best example is NDL projects which must be headed by LIS professional but PI/Co-PI are from computers. If i have to given two reference of great library professional from India than its only one Dr. Ranganathan comes in mind and for second mind does not work Why? LIS professionals must make their mind setup and thinking level similar to the other recognized community like faculty, engineers, doctors etc. We need to change and coordinate at each and every level i believe each one will be benefited but problem is many are lacking the patience of coordination and ethics and i may not be the exception. We have a ministry to look after the public libraries at Central Level but hardly any change comes due to lack of dynamic leadership at various levels. There is also lack of coordination between various organisations to promote the public libraries in the country.It is a known fact that there are no toilets even for women in many public libraries in spite of the fact that Honorable Prime Minister was vociferously pleading for the toilets every where. earlier i pleaded with the Director, NML but his response was not satisfactory. It is a known fact that Canadian Library Association which was formed in 1946 is getting dissolved after it s Annual conference in June 2016 and going to form CANADIAN FEDERATION OF LIBRARY ASSOCIATIONS (http://lj.libraryjournal.com/2016/02/organizations/canadian-library-associa…) A developed country had taken a radical changes to make the library related activity and enhance the facilities and improve the library services. Can we get some lessons with the decision of Canadian Library Association? Now the time had come for cooperated activity among the Associations and do something for the libraries at every level specially for public libraries. We also know the status of university and college libraries is also pathetic. there are many universities in India where the post of librarian is vacant. It is a fact that books will survive in spite the development of digital media. Still we need to take care of the growth of libraries and use the technology for improvement of the libraries which play an important role in KNOWLEDGE SOCIETY. Let all of join together and make an effort to see the growth of libraries, Budding professionals are totally unhappy with many seniors due to the limited support cum sympathy to the libraries. I request the seniors and who bother for teh libraries and think of doing something?
