Greetings from JAIN (Deemed- to- be University)! Dear Professionals, With great pleasure, we would like to inform you that, the Learning Resource Centre, Jain (Deemed-to-be University), JGI Knowledge Campus, Bangalore in collaboration with the Digital Information Research Labs. (DIRF), Chennai, India is conducting a National Level Faculty Development Program on "Scientific Writing in Research Publishing" on 25th January 2018 at JGI Knowledge Campus, District Fund Road, Jayanagar 9th Block, Bangalore- 560069 About the Program Publications are practically used as the indicator to measure the quantum of research output. The publications indexed in the databases such as Scopus and ISI Thompson only are considered as publications at the global level. A large number of Indian papers are not accepted in ranked journals as many researchers do not gain an understanding of producing better content. Publishing the papers in peer-reviewed and internationally indexed journals is increasingly important, which will increase researchers’ index, wide acceptance and academic profiling. This is also very important for the ranking of the institutions. Objectives of the Program: -The ways of producing good research and writing eminent papers with scientific reporting -Gain exposure to creating new approaches and solve research problems -The content of a good research, good review and revision The program will address the following questions. • How to produce quality research publication? • How to reflect the research carried out through the publication? • What are the measures for research impact? • What is the best way to disseminate research? • How to structure the research publication? • How to assess the reviewed publication? • What is indexed research? • How to integrate the research in the process of global review and indexing? • How to increase the research publication quality and record high research productivity? • How to improve English language presentation and proofread the language without language experts? • How to find collaborators and form the collaborative network in research The program will discuss the ways to optimize the research publication activities and the structure of research publications, review and indexing process, methods of generating good publications, demonstration of global indexing databases, research networks and other citation and evaluation metrics. dear professional it is very shocking news that a non-LIS person appointed as Director-INFLIBNET. which is total injustice to LIS professionals in the country. At one hand the essential qualification shows that the person from relevant field. however the appointed person is from Statistics, which is not relevant field . the whole profession is disturbed from this decision. ILA is taking it so seriously. we are taking the appointment to meet the honourable Minister of HRD in this regards.the name of INFLIBNET in it self says library network. I request the all professionals, state association that we all should oppose this decision. ILA is representing against this appointment. Here is a description of a new article published on AACR. *Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules (AACR) <https://www.librarianshipstudies.com/2018/12/anglo-american-cataloguing-rul…>* Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules (AACR) is the essential international cataloguing code used for descriptive cataloging of various types of information resources by libraries in the United States, Great Britain, Canada, and Australia as well as in many other countries. It was first developed in 1967 and updated regularly until 2005. The revisions and updates of the standard are referred to as AACR2. The second edition of Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules (AACR2) is the most widely used cataloging code, designed for use in the construction of catalogs and other lists in general libraries of all sizes. AACR2 comprise a detailed set of rules and guidelines for producing metadata in a surrogate record to represent a library resource. The rules cover the standard description of areas like, the title, publisher, edition, series, etc., as well as the provision of choice and form of access points (headings) for all materials which a library may hold or to which it may have access, including books, serials, cartographic materials, electronic resources, etc. AACR also provides rules for the formulation of standard forms of names and titles to provide access to and grouping of those descriptions. AACR2 standardized cataloging and ensured consistency within the catalog and between the catalogs of libraries using the same code in describing the physical attributes of library materials identically. AACR marked a shift from the previous cataloging rules, which were criticized for being too detailed, complex, and mere compilations of rules to handle specific bibliographic cases. Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules are considered as the most important advances in English-language codes for descriptive cataloging during the twentieth century. *Contents* 1. Background 2. To address this challenge, this paper proposes a novel dew-cloud architecture that brings the power of CC together with the dew computing (DC). Originally, the dew-cloud architecture is an extension of the existing client-server architecture, where two servers are placed at both ends of the communication link. With the help of a dew server, a user has more control and flexibility to access his/her personal data in the absence of an Internet connection. Primarily, the data are stored at the dew server as a local copy upon which instantiation of the Internet is synchronized with the master copy at the cloud side. Users can browse, read, write, or append data on the local dew site, which is a local Web form of an actual website. With the incorporation of the dew domain naming system and dew domain name redirection, mapping between different local dew sites has become possible. When Edward Jenner invented vaccines and when Alexander Fleming discovered antibiotics, they were harnessing the power of biotechnology. And, of course, modern civilization would hardly be imaginable without the fermentation processes that gave us beer, wine, and cheese! When he coined the term in 1919, the agriculturalist Karl Ereky described ‘biotechnology’ as “all lines of work by which products are produced from raw materials with the aid of living things.” In modern biotechnology, researchers modify DNA and proteins to shape the capabilities of living cells, plants, and animals into something useful for humans. Biotechnologists do this by sequencing, or reading, the DNA found in nature, and then manipulating it in a test tube – or, more recently, inside of living cells. In fact, the most exciting biotechnology advances of recent times are occurring at the microscopic level (and smaller!) within the membranes of cells. To address this challenge, we deployed the Moral Machine, an online experimental platform designed to explore the moral dilemmas faced by autonomous vehicles. This platform gathered 40 million decisions in ten languages from millions of people in 233 countries and territories. Here we describe the results of this experiment. First, we summarize global moral preferences. Second, we document individual variations in preferences, based on respondents’ demographics. Third, we report cross-cultural ethical variation, and uncover three major clusters of countries. Fourth, we show that these differences correlate with modern institutions and deep cultural traits.
