Dear Members, I am very happy to note that Prof. Asundi and Dr.Koteeswara Rao, the senior professionals who put their stamp in the profession, have pointed out the declining standard of LIS education and the insignificance of NEP 2019 in respect of libraries. I concur with their views 100% and the so called professional societies should do something to save the profession. There is no point in organising national and international conferences frequently without taking some steps to save the profession. Recently, I have visited some premier universities in Canada viz., University of Victoria and University of Toronto. It is amazing to see the significance they give to the libraries and library development. They are very big libraries with huge collection (1.5 million) with at least 100+ professional staff members. All modern cutting technologies are implemented and the beauty is that the libraries are well utilised by the students and faculty. We have seen at least 75% of the seats are occupied. It is important to note that these two universities are in the Worlds' best universities list with decent rank. So, still libraries play a vital role in education and research. But, unfortunately, in India, the importance of libraries in the higher education institutes is declining. I humbly pray the senior LIS professionals to kindly guide the younger generation on the ways and means to take suitable action to save the profession. ABSTRACT Established in 2005, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL)’s Libraries’ institutional repository (IR) has approximately 99,500 unique items. It is one of the largest and most-used institutional repositories in the United States. This presentation explores how UNL is working to meet the challenge of consistently and accurately identifying individual researchers and their scholarly *activities*. It examines UNL’s metadata practices for its IR, giving a more detailed explanation of personal names and Open Researcher and Contributor ID identifiers. It reviews some typical metadata problems found in UNL’s IR. National Education Policy, 2019 (Draft) and Libraries

Sri. N.V. Sathyanarayana sir has brought to the notice of LIS professionals an important issue that the National Education Policy (Draft) 2019 has not been adequately addressed. NEP 2019 should consider 'library' as an important and critical educational infrastructure. The Professional Associations should actively engage in preparing library national document as suggested by N.V. Sathyanarayana sir and submit the same to NEP committee to make necessary changes. The Karnataka State Education Policy (KSEP) 2016 prepared and submitted by Karnataka Knowledge Commission was also not vocal much about libraries except few references here and there to establish libraries in residential schools and universities and provide funds to maintain them. Satyanarayana Sir, there is an urgent need to initiate a dialogue/ debate with NEP (Draft) Committee Coordinators on the inclusion of 'Libraries" as distinct chapter in the new National Education Policy. It will help us revive the rapidly diminishing image of the libraries and librarians on the academic campuses. The national bodies such as ILA must take a lead on this front. If the Journalslisted in this database, can we consider them as indexed in “Web of Science” because most of thejournals are using the symbol below and states as indexed in Emerging SourceCitation Index of Web of Science. One to two years of relevant experience is desirable. Candidates having excellent internet browsing skills, knowledge of scholarly search engines and search techniques, along with using MS Office and understanding about HTML will have an advantage. Knowledge of LibGuide, SubjectsPlus, other CMS and associated software tools for creating resource guides will be preferred. Expertise in writing annotations and abstract is desirable. *Job description*: The candidate will be required to work for creating and making it live a comprehensive information resource guide covering the focused areas of Sustainable Development Centre to serve as one point access. This would involve identifying, evaluating, collecting and organization of information sources in the areas of interest to the Centre. This would require knowledge of relevant and quality resources, search tools, and the expertise in searching, selecting evaluating and creating entries for each resource with annotation. The candidate should be highly motivated, result oriented and keen in learning new information and technology skills. Dear Ms. Lalitha, For promotions under the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) of UGC, one has to complete Two Refresher Courses or Summer/ Winter School Programmes of 03 weeks duration (minimum 18 working days with 108 contact classes). Short Term Courses of 01 Week duration will not be considered for the purpose. Nowadays, you can attend ARPIT Courses on SWAYAM Platform in lieu of UGC Refresher Courses. The UGC is planning to reduce the number of days from the present 21 days (3 weeks) to 14 days (2 weeks). I hope this information clarifies your query.
