Dear Moderator - Kindly post this in the Forum. Dear professional friends, I will be superannuating from my services at Raman Research Institute on 31 st May 2020. My journey in the LIS profession started in 1980 when I joined Library school for BlLibSc program and eventually completed MLib in 1982. My career started in 1983, when I joined ISRO and worked there for a short while. Later I joined CMTI in 1984 and from their moved on to join Indian statistical Institute in 1987. Worked at ISI for 24 years and during this time I was fortunate to acquire PhD degree from Bangalore University under the guidance of Prof. MA Gopinath. I joined RRI as Librarian in April 2011. My professional life has been satisfying and fulfilling. I had occasions to meet many eminent personalities from both the LIS profession and scientific community. I also had opportunity to organize many events, which were really learning experiences. My retirement is only from my 9 to 5 official position and not from professional/academic life. Webinar on "Introduction to eLearning Content Creation" on 15th Jun 2020

Dear friends, Three leading computer societies -- CSI, ACM & IEEE CS in collaboration with ETU team of CDAC Mumbai announce a 90 minute webinar program on "Introduction to eLearning Content Creation" This webinar is in sequal to the recent "Certified Virtual Classroom Teacher" program conducted (in 3 batches) in collaboration with Classle SKILLNET which had a focus on content delivery. The Covid-19 situation has provided enormous opportunity for content delivery / online teaching through a host of conferencing software such as Zoom, Google Meet, WebEx, Jitsi to name a few. The proposed webinar program will address the need to create quality eContent to facilitate online teaching. It will provide an overview of different types of content that can be created along with relevant examples of actual content. Suitable set of tools used for various tasks associated with content creation will be enlisted and demonstrated. Pedagogical principles of creating eContent will be also be highlighted to ensure that teachers create effective eContent. This program is open for the teaching faculty from colleges & high schools and is scheduled on Monday, 15th Jun 2020 from 3.30 p.m to 5.00 p.m. This program will be run on Google Meet platform and the participation is restricted to 250 on first come first served basis. If there is a sufficient demand, another batch will be considered. While the program is free of charge, pre-registration is a must through the google form at https://bit.ly/2TM9TE5 Confirmed participants (after a review of registration information) will be provided with detailed instructions for joining the webinar, well in advance. A digital certificate of participation will be issued to all active participants who complete the program and provide feedback at the end of the webinar. The participants will have access to the video recording of the presentation, an eBooklet on relevant tools and the slides of the presentation through the user account created for each participant on the Moodle based course portal. A Forum will be setup on this portal to attend to the queries from the participants for a period of one week after the program. The webinar will consist of two sessions of about 40 minutes each followed by Q&A for 10 minutes. Session-1 will cover: Presentation on the Big picture of Online Teaching Learning; Content-the Key to Online Learning; Basic Content - Text, Images, Diagrams, Audio, Video with examples; and Guidelines for effective basic content creation Tool Demonstrations related to Record Narration in power point; Draw.io; Audacity; and Handbrake Session-2 will cover Presentation on Advanced Content - Screen Casts, Interactive Videos, Time Lines, Story Maps, Animation, Simulation, AR/VR with examples; OER, curating already available content, etc.; Content copyright; Content Delivery; and Guidelines for effective advanced content creation Tool Demonstrations related to VUE – mindmap; and OBS Studio As an advance information, we wish to state that an intensive 10 hours workshop though five webinar sessions of two hours each will be conducted at a later date but at a nominal cost. The number of participants in that workshop will be restricted to a max of 100 to facilitate higher level of interactions and personal attention. Dear Colleagues, The remote access facility is one of THE services of any library in this COVID19 pandemic. However, all the libraries are not equipped with the online application tool to give seamless access to subscribed contents to their users at their remote locations. Google CASA - Campus Activated Subscriber Access (CASA) is a Google Scholar initiative to improve access to research off-campus. If you are connected to your campus network (directly or by VPN) and use Google Scholar, Google will remember your institutional affiliation on your device for a period of 30 days (this period varies) so you can continue to access your institution?s licensed content outside the network. While searching any literature on Google Scholar at this time, it automatically creates an affiliation (or a ?token?) between the end-user and the affiliated institution. From that point on, if the user visits Google Scholar from off-campus or outside of the library, their token is recognized as an affiliate user and the user will see links to subscribed journals and articles that the library subscribes to. In simple terms CASA is a solution that notes a user?s access on campus and handshakes to make that same access work off campus. The new service requires no configuration from users. I too agree with Mr. Anand Dodamani TISS, Mumbai on his view that during this lockdown period Most of the faculties are busy in preparing the course materials, presentation to serve the students of their institute, as a part of the institute we the library professionals should also take part in serving the faculty and student fraternity by providing the required information to them. It is my opinion that for updating the professional's knowledge till time so many seminars, conferences have been conducted in the country but this is not the right time to conduct such online sessions. Professionals should really think in this regard that they really need such online sessions or they need to serve the users of their respective institute, college, university etc. If this is the situation continues the importance of seminar, conferences, workshop are losing their value in the academic environment. OBE approaches education by making decisions about the curriculum and instruction that are driven by the exit learning outcomes that the students should display at the end of a program or a course. OBE gives priority to ends, purposes, learning, accomplishments, and results. The outcomes at the end of a formal program are identified by the Institution and/or the concerned Accreditation agency. The outcomes at the end of a course/activity in a program are identified by the concerned Board of Studies. The course outcomes (COs) are best written by following a structure identified in the framework of Revised Bloom’s taxonomy or Revised Bloom-Vincenti taxonomy in case of engineering courses.
