It isessential for social sciences in developing countries to paygreater attention to thenature ofknowledge and the need for its indigenization. In a situation of digital resources becoming more visible in the social sciences, use of these resources by scholars remains limited. Digital libraries are still evolving, and librarians and other information professionals are just beginning to understand and exploit the computer's ability to assist in the Social Science research process. Social scientists study all aspects of society- from past events and achievements to human behavior and relationships among group.Therefore, it is part of the social science institutions and associations to make a strategy that researchers and students become accustomed to regard Internet as a tool to be used in the learning process.   About the Speaker: Dr. M. Krishnamurthy is Faculty at Documentation Research and Training Centre, Indian Statistical Istitute, Bangalore. Prior to taking this assignment he served as librarian at Indian Statistical Institute and as University librarian at University of Mysore. He has 5 years of experience in teaching and 18 years of experience as a librarian. He is the recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Fellowship in 2006 and visited Graduate School of Library and Information Science, Illinois (USA) to carry out research in the field of digital library for the period of one year. He was also the recipient of the "Open Repository Scholarship: to attend a conference at Sydney, Australia in 2007. He has published 80 articles in national and international journals and conferences. He has received Bharath Shiksha Ratana Award in 2012, and Indian Library Association (ILA)"CD Sharma Best Paper Award" in 2013. His research interests are Information and Communications Technologie! s (ICTs), Institutional Repositories, Digital Libraries, Content Management Systems and Social Networking. At present he is Treasurer for the Association of British Scholars, Bangalore. Respected Sir, I am a candidate for the post of Librarian, i found myself being rejected due to No. Diploma in Library science,but for your kind information Sir, now a days there is no Diploma course offered by any University,so a candidate persuing either Degree in Library Sc. ( B.Lib & Infn.Sc ) or Master Degree in Library science MA in library Sc. MLIB through direct mode as a regular candidate or MLISC from IGNOU through correspondence mode. In each case the candidate are eligible having the requisite qualification, but we found not only me but also a most of my friends having Master Degree in Library science MA in library Sc.( MLIB ) from Universities are Rejected due to No. Diploma in Library science certificate. Sir we found ourselves eligible in different Central Govt.Schools like Kendriya Vidyalaya, Navodaya Vidyalayas but how can we be Rejected with such mere condition. Status of College Librarians in different Colleges of West Bengal

Dear SUNNY JOSEPH's<http://lislinks.com/profile/SUNNYJOSEPH?xg_source=msg_mes_network> Thanks for Sending the two orders and the Order of Delhi High Court regarding the status of Librarians in Universities and Government and Non-Government Colleges in India. But it is a pity that most of the teachers as well as principals (so called educated persons) in different colleges of west Bengal denied to accept it rather they deliberately try to humiliate the college librarians now and then. There is neither any status nor any leave rule for the Librarians in different Colleges although they are recruited as per UGC norms.In this respect I am also posting an order of Inspector of Colleges of Vidyasagar University but the Principals as well as the teachers of different colleges Under the university denied to accept it as there is no any clearly defined status or leave rule given by State Govt. You will be surprised that after 1996 the librarians who got retirement did not get neither any leave encasement nor leave refusal in West Bengal. The Higher education Department as well as the State Govt.have no any headache for that. Let us unit together against this through this forum.
