Dear All: NISC is pleased to offer FREE access to the following two global databases for the entire month of December 2003. ________________________________________________________ 1. Child Development & Adolescent Studies (101,640+ records) CDAS is todays source for references to the current and historical literature related to the growth and development of children through the age of 21. Included are book reviews and abstracts from hundreds of journals, and a bibliography of thousands of technical reports, books, book chapters, theses and dissertations that cover the biomedical and social sciences worldwide. Over 10,000 new records added each year. NISC has transformed the entire 75 years of Child Development Abstracts & Bibliography (1927-2001) into todays electronic format by including all of the issues previously published by the Society for Research in Child Development, Ann Arbor, Michigan. All this plus new coverage of Child Rights and welfare issues makes CDAS a contemporary and essential resource for leading research. 2. Family & Society Studies Worldwide (FSSW) (700,850+ records) A "must have" for any degree granting institution in these fields. A core resource for these professionals: Social Workers Marriage & Family Counselors Family Practitioners Social Scientists Sociologists Psychologists Organizations and Services dedicated to the Family Family & Society Studies Worldwide (FSSW) is a core resource in NISC's series of databases on family and gender related topics. NISC has recently expanded the coverage of FSSW, which formerly was produced by the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR). FSSW contains all the citations of the discontinued print version, Inventory of Marriage & Family Literature, plus abstracts which were never available in print. The highly respected Australian Family & Society Abstracts, commonly known as FAMILY, is produced by the Australian Institute of Family Studies. Improved & Expanded Family & Society Studies Worldwide covers popular issues as well as meeting the requirements of professionals in all fields of social work, social science and family practice. The quality and quantity of literature cited have been increased, and the scope is international including new areas of research and types of publications. Publications indexed in the database are drawn from a wide range of social science disciplines including anthropology, sociology, psychology, demography, health sciences, education, economics, law, history, and social work. Source documents include related websites, internet documents, professional journals, conference papers, books, book chapters, selected popular literature, government reports, discussion and working papers, unpublished material such as poster sessions, statistical documents, theses & dissertations and other sources, many of which are indexed exclusively in FSSW. Enhanced sub-sets of records from highly relevant U.S. Government databases are included. Find everything you would expect and discover the unexpected about today's complex family and the challenges faced from within and society at-large. ________________________________________________________ Please contact us through email if you wish to have free access to these databases. There are complaints that BK Abraham asks (Foreign)authors to contribute papers,- don't know what he does with them -- never informs the outcome -- not even send a copy of the journal to the author. I thought Research Signpost may be similar such bogus organisation. NO, Research Signpost appears to be solid & real! PAMnetters, One of our scientists has been invited to submit a review article by a journal unknown to us. He would like feedback from librarians to help him decide if this would be a good place to publish. The title is 'Recent Research Developments in Astronomy & Astrophysics' published by Research Signpost in India. Volume 1 was/is to be published in 2003. Have any of you subscribed or received a free issue? If so what do you think of it? Do you know any researchers who have submitted articles and why they chose this journal?
