The Centre for Library and Information Management Studies (CLIMS), Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, is a major centre involved in capacity building of LIS professionals. It offers PGDLIM, MLISc and PhD programmes in Library and Information Science discipline with a focus on digital libraries, knowledge organization, library automation, electronic resource management and web-based information services. TISS is pleased to announce admissions for the 16th batch (2025-26) of the "Post Graduate Diploma in Digital Library and Information Management (PGDLIM)" programme. This cutting-edge, one-year blended-mode programme uses contact classes in the computer lab (2 weeks in each semester) for on-campus sessions and the Moodle e-learning platform for off-campus sessions. The course also includes a field work component worth 8 credits, consisting of supervised placements in various digital library environments. It aims to create trained manpower to handle digital libraries, archives, data management and electronic resources. This programme will equip librarians, academics, archivists and researchers with digital library and information management skills to play a larger role in their organizations. Building metrics is the key to science and technology measurement and translating the measures to work better. The metric is not confined to drawing numbers and analysing. Selecting a metric depends on synthesising multiple directions and evidence-based data, producing scientific and technological evaluation benchmarks and standards, and implementing them with real data to mark a full-fledged system. Quite recently, we have witnessed the emergence of new metrics-based models aiming to reflect the growth of science and technology. The proposed Science and Technology Metrics (STMet 2025) conference concerns how many metrics may involve assessing different aspects of science and technology, which are best expressed using various approaches. Besides the standard conference track and the Doctoral Symposium, STMetrics will host several workshops and tutorials related to the conference’s theme.
