Subject : Interesting Read : 2021 Library Design Showcase Respected All 2021 Library Design Showcase Welcome to the 2021 Library Design Showcase, *American Libraries’* annual celebration of new and renovated libraries that address user needs in unique, interesting, and effective ways. That this year’s slate features building projects completed during the pandemic makes them even more noteworthy. Despite libraries being temporarily closed or operating at reduced hours because of COVID-19 restrictions, beautiful new facilities and innovatively renovated spaces continued to open to the public over the past year and a half. As in recent years, renovations and expansions took center stage, highlighting the novel ways that communities are honoring existing structures while moving them into the future. https://americanlibrariesmagazine.org/2021/09/01/2021-library-design-showca… -- Mr.Sagar B. University of Utrecht Announces Bold New Open Science Incentives
by Dr. J. K. Vijayakumar 08 Sep '21

University of Utrecht Announces Bold New Open Science Incentives A leading Dutch research university announced that it is formally abandoning the impact factor in all of its hiring and promotion decisions by early 2022. Rather than continuing to rely on this controversial and flawed metric, every department at Utrecht University in the Netherlands will judge its scholars by other standards, including their commitment to teamwork and efforts to promote Open Science. The University’s bold new “Recognition and Rewards Scheme” is part of the University’s larger Open Science Programme, which aims to make research more transparent and cooperative. Open Science fellows embedded in each department will assess progress towards elements including open access publishing, public engagement and research data sharing. The TRIPLE model consists of six components: team spirit; research; impact; professional performance; leadership; and education. They describe the three domains where we generate output (research, professional performance and education), the impact they have on science and society, and leadership in academia that actively nurtures an environment in which they can flourish. TRIPPLE model (link: https://www.uu.nl/sites/default/files/UU-Recognition-and-Rewards-Vision.pdf) Full details of the Utrecht Open Science Initiative and new assessment guidelines can also be found (link: https://www.uu.nl/en/research/open-science) Happy exploring. ------ Dr. J. K. VIJAYAKUMAR, King Abdullah University of Science & Technology (KAUST)
