Google Notebook is up now. It works - as I expected - like clipmarks but in a much cool manner. Moreover, Google Search Engine has been leveraged in a good fashion. Installation is very simple - you need a Google Account ( your gmail account will do ). In mine case as soon as I logged in, It asked for downloading a Firefox extension - which was done in seconds. Next time when Firefox was opened, it had a small Notebook icon towards the right bottom corner. Working with it is Simple - mark anything in your Firebox / Browser and click -> notebook icon -> Add Note. You are done. Open source Journals?

Dear Professional Collegues, Can anybody clarify about open source journals? According to me, these are free journals accessible online. But, I found that, in this catagory from a networking association, for a perticular open source journal, to access full article, they were asking user name & password. Unless we pay and get this, we cannot access. Delnet as this Directory of open source journals. Here I found this problem. I am in confusion. Pl clarify. We are about to start with the department of Management and Biotechnology engineering. As per the norms of AICTE we are supposed to subscribe to 30 Journals in Management and approx 12 journals in Biotechnology engineering. I had downloaded the list of journals subscribed by IIM A and also other management institutes but unfortunately i was not given the entire details of the cost of subscription. i had asked for the Title of the Journal/ Magazine and its cost of subscription. As many of them are buying these journals under consortia. thus they do not want to disclose the price. And in the field of Biotechnology it is very difficult to decide as there are no much sources of information available for me. I tried searching on the Net. But due to the time constraint I am not able to get a good list which is economic as well as qualitative. The themes of the conference will address many issues facing libraries, archives, and record centers concerning the effects of globalization and change on the development of libraries, information nfrastructure, and society. Conference themes include: * Digitization and access * Creation, administration of digital libraries * Intellectual property * National and international information policies and projects * Preservation * Association initiatives * Library/information science education * Collaboration and cooperation The Committee seeks original papers on the above themes to be presented at the conference.
