On Demand Purchase Model Allows Librarians to Base Acquisition on Usage
by DINESH SIDDAIAH 15 Feb '10

15 Feb '10

Dear Friends, On Demand Purchase Model Allows Librarians to Base Acquisition on Usage Now your library can purchase eContent only when you need it. Through the NetLibrary On Demand purchase model, your library establishes a profile of available titles for your users. Once a title is accessed between one and three times depending on publisher permissions, it is purchased by your library and automatically added to your collection. Because you’ve set the overall strategy through your profile, you maintain complete control of titles available for purchase. Your library will be notified about purchases on a monthly basis and payment can be made through an advance deposit or by monthly invoices. On Demand provides libraries with the least expensive way to acquire new titles because only those titles that are used get triggered for purchase. Contact your OCLC representative for complete details. Dear Professionals, I request your kind feedback on *your* p*roduct satisfaction* for * Libsys-LSPremia* and *VTLS-Virtua*. I understand that Libsys is most widely used software in India, but some big institutions are also using Virtua. We have to decide for the best software for our library. The selection criteria are *all advanced features *(email/sms alerts for issue, return, return of reserved item; automatic overdue reminders; robust searching facilities; content enriched OPAC; virtual shelf; printing and reporting; etc.) *working seamlessly*, *true implementation of RFID Gate* and *self issue-return system*.
