Delegates may indicate their requirements for accommodation in the registration form. *Maulana Azad Library* Maulana Azad Library is regarded as the second largest University Library of Asia with more than 13.5 lakh books, E- Books and other documents. The foundation of the Library was laid in 1875 when Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, a great social reformer of his time, established a School that later became Mohammaden Anglo Oriental College in 1877 and finally Aligarh Muslim University in 1920 by an Act of Parliament. The foundation stone of the Library was initially laid by Lord Lytton, the then Viceroy of India. That is why the Library was originally named as Lytton Library. The foundation stone of the present grand seven storied building of Maulana Azad Library was laid on November 12, 1955 by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, ex Prime Minister of India, who most graciously came again to inaugurate the Library on December 6, 1960. The library has thus completed 50 years. It was named after Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the great Educationist, Statesman and the first Education Minister of independent India. During the last couple of years, library services in the University have been substantially updated and modernized. Developments in the library services with the advent of latest ICT applications include- campus wide access to Online Catalogue, Digital Resource Centre with 2 lakh e-books / Encyclopedias and many language learning softwares, online journals; Automatic Security Gate for books; CCTV etc. As a sequel to that the library has recently received IP based online access to almost all important Internationally reputed Full Text Data Bases namely ‘Web of Science’, ‘Science Direct’, ‘SciFinder Scholar’, ‘ERMED Consortia’, ‘J-Gate’, ‘BIOSIS’ and ‘DELNET’. The Library serves the University community from 8 AM to 2 A.M. (next day). About 5000 students, teachers and other members of the University visit the Library daily. *Department of Library and Information Science* Department of Library and Information Science of Aligarh Muslim University is a premier institution in the field of Library and Information Science in India with a history that reaches back about sixty years. The foundation of the Department was laid way back in 1950-51 with the introduction of a ‘Certificate Course in Library Science’, by the then University Librarian, Padma Shri Prof. S. Bashiruddin. Encouraged by the success of the certificate course, late Prof. S. Bashiruddin introduced ‘Bachelor of Library Science’ in 1958-59 with full time lecturers for the first time in the country. The Certificate course was discontinued in 1968-69. Subsequently, ‘Master of Library Science’ was introduced in 1970-71. Another pioneering step taken by the department in the year 1986-87 was the introduction of Library Science as a subsidiary subject at B.A level in the Faculties of Arts and Social Science. Realizing the need and importance of research in the subject, the Department started M.Phil/Ph.D programmes since 1990-91. The teaching faculty of the department includes one Professor, three Associate Professors, two Assistant Professors, and two Guest Faculties. Using the modern ICT facilities in the dept, the faculty members are engaged in active research on various aspects of LIS. At present, the department has two ongoing projects sponsored by ICSSR and Department of Science and Technology Govt. of India. In the past also few UGC sponsored projects have been successfully completed. Dear All SLA Asian Chapter and TCS IRC Pune is organizing one day program on "Sharing SUCCESS STORIES". Here is brief about program. Many of us come across situations/challenges in our professional life and some of these challenges are really tough and sometimes we find out some creative solutions for same. Some of these are situations / problems can be faced by us and there could be alternate solutions for same. If professionals who have implemented or followed some innovative way /methodology which turned out to be a big success worth sharing with others too. Others can deploy similar approach for situations at their end or can think in similar direction for other problems. Some times there is need to do some experiments about which we may have some apprehensions but it turn out to be very productive in long run (may be after some fine tuning) All such SUCCESS STORIES / experiences, small initiatives / problem solving approach /methods etc (* which resulted in well established processes*) can be shared with others. I, Gautam John and Arun Ram were some of Bangalore Wikipedians who attended the event. Liam explained Wikipedia and how it be can used easily with presentations and live demonstrations, which thrilled the audience. There were several questions around Wikipedia policies and how it deals with controversial topics around politics, culture. Audience also showed lot of interest in the copyright policies of Wikipedia. Liam explained it nicely by illustrating the different licensing options from all rights reserved to public domain and highlighting the licenses applicable to Wikipedia. Liam shared how Oxford English Dictionary led the crowd sourcing towards creating knowledge, when it decided to publish the complete dictionary and sought inputs from public to share all the known words. He shared his popular quote If people were passing out Knowledge on the street for free everyday, I am sure that there would be a lot more learning, based on Gregg Gillis's quote about free paints and painting. There were questions on software for building an archive of publications and Liam suggested e-hive as a potential option. There was an interesting questions on the number of contributors for Sanskrit Wikipedia and Arun answered the same, based on his knowledge of working with Sanskrit Community. We also met with senior public library professionals and a member of Karnataka knowledge commission, who offered their help towards initiatives to provide free access to Wikipedia in public libraries. Most of the audience were excited to know that Wikipedia is available in several Indian languages. I extended an invitation to the audience to take the community/chapter's help in spreading Wikipedia in their respective professional communities/users. National Diversity of International Journals The journals ranking and Impact factor of the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) is increasingly turning into an international currency for the quality of research output. More than 14000 journals are ISI-ranked as journal quality and impact. In that most of them are labeled “major international” journals this analysis of ISI data reveals that the attribute “international” is not always appropriate. National diversity of journals is very low due to a dominance of authors from English-speaking countries and U.S. authors in particular. Younger journals and journals with an explicitly stated international mission tend to be international, whereas the internationality of the affiliated organization or impact of a journal had no influence on national diversity. The results suggest that it may be desirable to clearly distinguish between national and international journals, to increase the number of international journals, and to support authors whose mother tongue is not English.
