Fw: Request for Article: Is it fair?
by gayathri sen 06 Jun '11

06 Jun '11

1.The person requesting the article has to give full bibliographic details. If it is incomplete, fellow professionals may not spend time bothering about some other institution's request. 2.They should become members of organizations like DELNET and ask for DDS services and pay the charges 3. Posting such requests in the forum may not be a good idea even from copywrite point of view Gayathri Sen PESIT --- On Thu, 6/2/11, Gireesh Kumar T K <giryksd(a)gmail.com> wrote: From: Gireesh Kumar T K <giryksd(a)gmail.com> Subject: [LIS-Forum] Request for Article: Is it fair? To: lis-forum(a)ncsi.iisc.ernet.in Date: Thursday, June 2, 2011, 12:22 PM Dear Sir/Madam/Professional friends This has reference to some of the recently published posts in LISFORUM with a topic "Request for Article", for their requirement of full text journal articles. In most of the requirements it is found that the bibliographic details given by the requester is deficient to find out even the source of the article and moreover it is a time-consuming process. And also seen that some of our professional friends are not even mentioned the title of the journal or year of publication/vol.No/Issues No/ number of pages etc etc. Is it a good practice to ask a person to do complete search and find out the details and then download the article even if we desire to help our friends? In my personal view, it would be very easy and time saving to find out the softcopy (fulltext) of the article (since we need to find out whether we have the full text access or not) if the requester could give the full text link of the source article. or the URL which directs to the publishers platform. Call for Participation in Public Opinion Poll designed to institute a rationalized National Test Scheme (NTS) for admission into Tertiary Education in Sciences and Engineering

Call for Participation in Public Opinion Poll designed to institute a rationalized National Test Scheme (NTS) for admission into Tertiary Education in Sciences and Engineering National Test Scheme (NTS) [ http://india.gov.in/nts/ntshome.php http://india.gov.in/nts/profile.php ] The proposed National Test Scheme is designed to allow selection of students for admission to tertiary education. It is based on the single examination evaluation instead of the prevailing multiple competitive examination system in the country. Most nations employ just one test for assessment of scholastic aptitude instead of a plethora of evaluation tests. The current selection systems have, no doubt, resulted in visible benefits. But, the future of Indian youth might need a paradigm shift that ensures opportunity for larger sections of the society. The extreme level of competitiveness in the screening processes employed for deciding access to professional education is not without its psychological or sociological implications for the society. They do influence the mindset and behavioural changes among the youth. "Unity in diversity" is the Indian brand value. Unification, while retaining the diversity of educational systems in the country is the underlying strategy of the proposed National Test Scheme. It is motivated by the principle of inclusion for a collaborative excellence rather than exclusion through competitive excellence. For more about the underlying Philosophy and Principles of the National Test Scheme (Download PDF http://india.gov.in/nts/philosophy_behind_NTS.pdf) Kindly post your valuable response on the Public Opinion Poll designed to institute a rationalized National Test Scheme (NTS) for admission into Tertiary Education in Sciences and Engineering. Post your Opinion online here till 21st June 2011 [Public Opinion Poll] http://india.gov.in/nts/profile.php ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dr. Anup Kumar Das New Delhi, India http://anupkumardas.blogspot.com/ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.
