Books as powerful tool for well being at home and work
by manoj kumar pant 25 Apr '12

25 Apr '12

Dear All, Here is a book on 'How books can be a mean of decorating onterior and as powerful tool for well being at home and work'. http://www.amazon.com/Living-With-Books-Alan-Powers/dp/157959073X Powers, librarian of the Prince of Wales' Institute of Architecture, has collected a wealth of photographs depicting myriad ways to store books. He shows them in the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and home office; in hallways and stairs; and, of course, in the library. He provides some information on the care of books, but professional and student designers will find this book especially helpful for showing how other designers have approached the design of shelving and storage of books. Everyone has books—but most people simply put them on a shelf, neglecting more creative ways to make their treasures an integral part of the interior design. Alan Powers’ witty, elegant guide to showcasing your precious volumes will change all that. Going room to room, from kitchens to hallways, he reveals inspirational ways that books can create character in the home. Stunningly photographed images from around the world display large-scale libraries, as well as such ingenious space-saving devices as enclosed book lofts; shelves cleverly tucked into stairways; and narrow wall-mounted boarding that fits snugly behind a chair. There’s advice on caring for the volumes, technical hints on planning and building bookshelves, and practical, detailed projects. Special double-page features cover such topics as designer solutions and constructing furniture out of books. Regards Manoj Kumar Pant Librarian, Uttarakhand Judicial and Leagal Academy, Bhowali, Nainital, Uttarakhand-263232. 9012226260 -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.

Respected Moderator lindly publish this email on the LIS forum. Thank you, Respected Library Professionals, We have received email from Marketing Department of one of the E-Journal Company (Springer: Recommended by AICTE) asking to conduct the seminar on E-products. Their representatives will conduct the whole session. They will demonstrate everything on Projector. We are requested to invite the Principals, HODs, Librarians of neighboring colleges in the city or district. We need opinion regarding *usefulness *of conducting seminar on E-journal products to decide whether to conduct or not. I request frank opinion by Library professionals having conducted such type of Seminars. 2. I also request onion from the Library professionals who use to participate in such type of seminars. 3. Suppose we wish to conduct such seminar (Giving information of *particular products* like e-journals *of a particular company *like Springer) then what will be response of participants for enrollment ? Whether Librarians, HODs, Principals will be interested in such seminar. 4.Is the Subject or theme seems appealing to the professionals in Academic era ?
