bibliographic information & supplier of
by rajeshri patel 24 Aug '12

24 Aug '12

Dear Professional, Can anyone tell me the bibliographic information about following book and let me know who will supply this book in india? ‘the book that can’t wait’ (‘el libro que no puede esperar’) *is printed in ink that begins to disappear when the book is opened for the first time* *Argentinean independent publishers Eterna Cadencia<http://www.eternacadencia.com/home.asp>r *eleased an anthology of new Latin authors using special ink that disappears once it comes in contact with sun and air, completely disappearing within two months time after opening the book. “The Book That Can’t Wait” makes for an interesting approach to motivate book buyers to read books more promptly, giving first-time authors the attention they need to survive. “Books are very patient objects,” reads the words streamed across the video’s screen. “We buy them, and then they wait for us to read them. Days, months, even years. That’s OK for books, but not for new authors. If people don’t read their first books. They’ll never make it to a second.” -- Thanks & regards Rajeshri Patel Asst. Librarian Indus University Rancharda, Via-Thajtej, Ahmedabad-382115. Gujarat. Fw: Public awareness of the OA movement
by Subbiah Arunachalam 24 Aug '12

24 Aug '12

Friends: Please see the Economist debate on academic journals [http://www.economist.com/economist-asks/do-fee-charging-academic-journals-o…. It has not attracted many comments from readers - a clear indication that the general public (at least the segment that reads high quality news channels like The Economist) is least interested in, if not indifferent to, what we consider is of paramount importance. All our advocacy has not reached them. I think, instead of spending our time talking about refining and redefining the most appropriate way to bring about universal open access amongst ourselves (and that too with some amount of rancour) we should devote our attention now to take the message to the citizenry at large. We should promote Students for OA, Alliance of Taxpayers for OA and similar initiatives in a large scale. In the end, public awareness and taxpayer acceptance are the keys to the success of the OA movement. Regards. Arun -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.

RESOURCE: Access to Knowledge, a guide for everyone

On Tue, 21 Aug 2012, Subbiah Arunachalam wrote: Friends: Here is a guide to Access to Knowledge (https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups=#!topic/goajourno/Mde1f7DH_ok) compiled by my friend Frederick Noronha. We should seriously consider introducing a paper on A2K in the Masters level courses in LIS in all Indian universities. We can get experts from the Alternative Law Forum, B'lore, and the Centre for Internet and Society, B'lore, to help in the design and production of the course content. LIS graduates need to be sensitized to issues of copyright and intellectual property when the electronic media are edging out print as the preferred mode of scholarly communication and dissemination of learning materials. What do you think?
