Further, developing applications for mobility will be one of the highly promising career options for both young Computer Science graduates as well as experienced professionals in IT. Wireless Expertise, forecasts the number of smart phones that are sold per annum will increase from 165.2 million (in 2009) to 422.96 million (in 2013) and the total number of smart phone users will be 1.6 billion in 2013. These are the clear indications of the trends in the use of mobile technology in the industry. Today’s presentation will touch upon mobile applications and the impact of mobile technologies in the corporate working. About the Speaker: ============== Mr. S. Manikandan is a technical sales professional with over 17 years of experience in sales and marketing of ERP, CRM, BI and Business Process Automation Tools. He has been responsible for many SAP implementation and support projects across India for various industry verticals such as consumer goods, manufacturing, automotive, engineering and construction. Dear All Greetings from the GIPE Library! On occasion of Dr S R Ranganathan's Birth Anniversary, we are organising a 'National level workshop on Library Automation using Koha Open Source Software' from 09 – 11 Aug 2013. Koha : It is the First Open-Source Web-based Integrated Library System (ILS) with a SQL database backend that includes modules for Circulation, Cataloging, Acquisitions, Serials, Patron (Member) management, Library Branch relationships, and many more features. Koha is built using international library standards and protocols that ensure interoperability between Koha and other systems. It supports technologies like cataloging data stored in MARC and accessible via Z39.50 and also supports existing work-flows and tools. Koha has most of the features that would be expected in an ILS, Purpose of this workshop : To provide hands-on training to library professionals by providing adequate practical knowledge which will enable to automate the libraries on their own by using Koha. The workshop also will be useful to those who wish to migrate to Koha. Workshop comprises of lectures, demonstrations and hands-on training using Koha software in detail. Each participant will be provided with a dedicated machine. Resource Persons: Dr Nanaji Shewale Dr Sunita Barve Mr Pramod N Joshi Target Participants: Library and information Science professionals with working knowledge of Information Technology. Number of participants is limited to 30 only. The participants will be selected on first come first served basis.
