Dear Moderator pls circulate. CONNECTING INDIAN RESEARCHERS WITH GLOBAL KNOWLEDGE Mayur Vaidya from IIT-Madras is pursuing a PhD in material sciences. Till some time ago, he wasn't sure of the content sources relevant to his topic and available through the institute library. His mentor told him about Knimbus and he's been using the online platform since then. As Knimbus is customised to his library subscriptions, he got just those articles in search that he could access. That saves his time and effort in finding content and he also got to know of other publisher platforms. Dear Members, We have been receiving very good response for the Indian Digital Library Initiative (IDLI) to be showcased during ICADL 2013. If you haven't sent your proposal as yet, you may please do so at your earliest convenience.. The last date to receive your proposals is on or before 31 October 2013. The 15th International Conference on Asia-Pacific Digital Libraries (ICADL 2013) is brought to you by the International School of Information Management and University of Mysore. It will be held in Bangalore, India, during December 9-11, 2013. The venue is Hotel Le Meridien, Bangalore. The theme of the conference is ³Social Media and Community Networks² Would you like to showcase your DL, attend the conference, and win some exciting prizes too--without paying the registration fee? ICADL 2013 will not be just another run-of-the-mill DL conference! Apart from plenary talks and presentations of accepted papers, several special events are lined up during the conference. Once such event is showcasing of Indian Digital Library Initiatives (IDLI). We invite short (2 page) proposals from those of you who have implemented digital libraries in your own organisations for IDLI. We will select up to 10 proposals for showcasing them at the ICADL 2013. The criteria for selection would include (but not limited to): 1. Innovation and Novelty - There should be some aspect of novelty in the initiative. For example novelty could be customization of DL software to meet local needs or to implement a feature that is not supported by the software. The customization could be at the source code and/or configuration levels. Novelty could also be in terms of how social media is used to engage the users 2. Currency - The Initiatives should be current with respect to content and DL software and features being used 3. Impact - What has been the impact of your DL? How and how many users have you reached? How are you engaging your end user? What does the usage statistics reveal? Do you feel that the DL initiative that you are part of qualifies for the above and more? Then, here is your chance to attend the ICADL 2013 for free. You could also get financial support to attend the next ICADL. The write up should not be more than 2 pages and it should cover: - Name of the DL initiative - Year of establishment - Software being used - Current version of the software and the version being used - Innovation / Novelty in the initiative. Please briefly describe the innovation introduced by you - Impact of the initiative with reference user to its reach and usage - Email id of the administrator Up to 10 selected proposals will get a free registration for the ICADL 2013 conference. This apart, the top two DL initiative will win attractive prizes and the best initiative may get financial support to attend the next ICADL! All the selected proposals can showcase their DLs through posters and live demonstrations.
