There are five factors which decide your outcome of getting admissions to a Master's or a Doctoral Program in a foreign University. They are your: 1) Undergraduate record. 2) Work experience or projects completed. 3) GRE/GMAT/TOEFL Scores. 4) Extra-curricular or Co-curricular Activities. and 5) Personal Statement of Purpose Essay. The weightage given to each of the above five factors, varies from one university to another, but on an average about 25 percent is for your SoP.
