Dear LIS Professionals Greeting from KLA We take immense pleasure to inform you that The Khandesh Library Association published “*KLA Bulletin”* from 2010 now it is renamed as *“KLA Research Journal”. ‘KLA Research Journal’ *is the official organ of KLA. It’s aim is to disseminate information concerning Library & Information Science, Computer Science and Information Technology. The basic objective of the Journal to promote the writing skills of the Professionals. This can result in failure to find relevant documents when there is ambiguity with the place names and names of organizations, people, buildings and streets. Librarians and bibliographers used to maintain authority files for disambiguating among them with proper choice of attribute sets. But, complexity increases when the data is unstructured as in news articles, blogs, tweets. For, successful execution of location-based and feature-based queries, the construction of spatial indices based on the spatial attributes is required, including the integration of text indexing with spatial indexing methods that exploit geo-tagging procedures to categorize documents with respect to geographic space. In this seminar, we will discuss about geo-tagging, possible spatial indexing structures and few research problems in this area. Through this workshop, KALA aims to develop your skills, knowledge and confidence in both formal and informal ways and situations, such as introducing yourself in an interview, meetings, training sessions, presenting your work in conferences and so on. In this context, i would like to provide some useful evaluation studies and Latest report on Resources Discovery services and Marshell Breeding ( Full text can be downloaded from the link provided below) 1. Paths of Discovery: Comparing the Search effectiveness of EBSCO Discovery Service, Summon, Google Scholar, and Conventional Library Resources ( http://crl.acrl.org/content/early/2012/05/07/crl-374.abstract Abstract ) In 2011, researchers at Bucknell University and Illinois Wesleyan University compared the search efficacy of Serial Solutions Summon, EBSCO Discovery Service, Google Scholar and conventional library databases. Using a mixed-methods approach, qualitative and quantitative data was gathered on students' usage of these tools. Regardless of the search system, students exhibited a marked inability to effectively evaluate sources and a heavy reliance on default search settings. On the quantitative benchmarks measured by this study, the EBSCO Discovery Service tool outperformed the other search systems in almost every category. This article describes these results and makes recommendations for libraries considering these tools. *2. Library System Report 2014 By Marsehll Breeding* EBSCO currently stands as the front-runner, with a long lead of 5,612 library subscribers to EDS. OCLC reports 1,717 libraries with access to WorldCat Local, though a smaller number use it as their primary discovery interface.
