Innovation is the implementation of new ideas to produce a new service or product. Creativity and innovations are different from each other, but they are interrelated in one way or the other. Libraries are undergoing tremendous changes and witnessing a paradigm shift from closed to open, physical space to learning space, physical wall to wired wall, print to electronic, collection to content, local to global resources and access, ownership to access license, reading for learning, etc. Technology changed the traditional way of collection development, acquiring resources, storing and access methods, delivery mechanism, distribution channels in libraries. These rapidly changing information environment calls for restructuring information services and professions in major ways. Libraries are thriving halls of learning, creativity, and community growth. The libraries of tomorrow should be designed not only for housing resources, reading and lending, but also for providing an environment for learning commons, information common, teaching, research, sharing and collaboration. It should be well-equipped to deliver the library services to the digital, community. They are the way to embrace technology and avoid digital exclusion. In this context, LIS professionals should constantly introduce and adopt creative and innovative ideas and methods using the latest ICT technologies, devices, social software tools and techniques wherever needed to address and transform the sweeping and dramatic changes that are taking place in the library environment. Re-engineering, reinventing, re-visiting the library to improve and extend the existing systems and services are paramount in the changing information landscape. Therefore, LIS professionals should acquire the necessary skills to translate the user’s present and future requirements. Institutions are therefore requested to ensure that all claims made in the self-study report are validated prior to its submission to NAAC. I deeply condole the death of Kapoor Sab.I am fortunate to work with him as a colleague at Geological Survey of India and at IASLIC for many years. We together visited London in1978 to attend 1st International Conference on Geological Information. We visited together at Frankfurt and Rome. He was like my family member. He was very favourite to my late moth due his Polite and amicable behaviour. A soft spoken personality very helpful to the users of GSI.Though we were not student of geology We used to discuss the intecracy of the subject to understand it to provide proper services. His father was also a Librarian at ASI. He Considered me as a friend and brother. With his death I have lost a true well Wisher May his soul rest in peace. He obtained his M Lib Sc Degree from Jadavpur University. He worked as a Senior Librarian, Geological Survey of India, Kolkata till his retirement. S K Kapoor was attached with IASLIC in different capacity - as an Editor of IASLIC Bulletin, as convenor of different divisions coordination and cooperation division, study circle division in different point of time. He contributed a good number of articles in professional journals, presented a number of papers in national and international seminars and conferences, and edited seminar/conference proceedings of IASLIC. Apart from library science he had immense interest in Astrology and his predictions regarding natural calamity like earthquake were resulted in reality many times. He used to write articles on such predictions using his pen-name 'Dhruba'. He had expertise in Homeopathy too and was popular in his locality as a homeopathy pratitioner. IASLIC condoles his sad demise and bereavement. IASLIC conveys its heartfelt condolence to all members of his family. Cost advantage has moved more and more of the software life cycle activities to the developing nations like India and the Philippines. While outsourcing, many companies in the US and other Western countries find project management an area that needs improvement in the emerging service provider nations. Processes and teams across different geographical locations make the management all the more challenging. It is precisely this need that this book intends to address. The author has extensive management experience in IT projects in the manufacturing, banking and telecom domains and distils that experience to narrate the project management knowledge areas with real life examples and case studies. Many books and articles have described the challenges faced by the US project manager in dealing with a contractor in another country, but the remedial measures for this skill gap needs to emerge within the cultural context of the service provider nations.
